Trying hard for a healthy living...

Been sleeping early lately... well, been trying. And I've restarted my yoga & Pilates workouts, trying to get in a better shape when I go back to KL. That's all for now coz my head's been aching since our 2nd set. Gotta go hit the pillow now!

Boooooooooring

This is worse than my bad hair day... this is what I call my "one kilo lips" day! Hahaha! Or if you're like me, you should be thinking something naughtier and kinkier than that... hmmm?!? Ok, clue: it's not the Tina Turner look but she might actually have "it"! You're real slow if you didn't get that! :-)

By the way, I just re-arranged my PBase gallery and deleted some pics so I can free up some space, check it out!

Offertory over

My eyelids are so heavy that they are ready to shut. Just went back home. Attended the mass today at noon and did the offertory with Marlou. I had all some blasphemous thoughts which I'd sometimes share with Brice. I carried the Host for the communion while Marlou carried the wine. Good that they asked Marlou to carry the wine coz I did carry it, the glass would have been empty once I reach the altar! Hahaha!

After the mass, we went to Baoshan Lu where there is a flea market style of mostly eletronic stuff. I bought a pair of walkie-talkies for my brothers. I'm sure they'd be thrilled about it. I've been trying to find a new game cartridge for Selena's GameboySP, but I didn't find any today.

Now I'm really tired and my mind is ready to drift away...

Websites updated

I slept for a couple of hours, trying to follow Marlou's new sleeping routine. But I couldn't go back to sleep after going for a pee. So I just went back to our home office and updated my websites so please check them out:

Don't forget to sign my guestbook (any of them LOL)!!!

Updated my front page

I was planning on a full revision of my website. But since I'm kinda lazy to learn new stuff for it, I just updated the front page with a newly posted photo of me and my "corner". Check it out!!!

Offered to offer at the mass

It's our off at last! I can relax and have a great offday. Although the weather these days are quite unpredictable, so I'm hoping it won't rain on my offday parade tomorrow.

Marlou and I was asked by a friend who organizes stuff for the Catholic church in Shanghai to do the mass offering tomorrow. It will be my first time ever to walk the entire aisle with Marlou and I might even hallucinate that I'm on my bridal gown instead of offering! Hahaha! Another problem is, I don't even have the right outfit for it! So I'm gonna dig up my luggages and find something appropriate to wear tomorrow.

I've added new albums on my pbase gallery:

Staff Party again

Tonight was the 2nd night of the Staff Party. They did a 2-night event for hotel staff to take over the shift of the ones attending the party after they've attended it themselves yesterday. I arrived the ballroom at 8:30PM and had a lot of time to relax there, unlike last night's rush. I was able to talk to the gorgeous models that I'll be strutting on the catwalk with. They've very young but very tall and look so lovely!

Culture Shock band wasn't there when I arrived because they left right away after their performance. But tonight was a lot crazier than last night (I think) as I have managed to watch some of their party games. Everyone was really enjoying.

Last night I was a bit jittery. Tonight, I was more confident with my performance, though I wore a simpler Jessica McClintock gown than the one I wore last night. But that's all right. They liked our overall performance anyway.

It's really fun to hang out with the hotel staff during parties or outside the hotel because they behave differently and they look so much different. Maybe they think of us the same way...

Pudong Shangri-La Staff Party

Pudong Shangri-La hosted their 2005 staff party at the new China Ballroom of the hotel's newly opened Tower 2. The affair started at 6PM. The BATS band performed during dinner time (I was still in the house getting ready). I picked a nice Jessica McLintock gown which I bought 2 years ago and have just used it only once! So I decided to use it tonight for the 2nd time, just for me to get my money's worth in buying that dress.

The Front Office asked for my assistance to sing the Shangri-La Theme, which I'd always sing every night when we start our 1st set, while their lovely models strut the catwalk-style stage. The models turned out to be the lobby girls who would open the door for the guests and they looked stunning. I looked so tiny compared to them especially when all of them went to the front to strike their poses while I stayed at the back, singing the ho-hum song which was remixed by Marl.

After my performance which was around 8:45PM, I joined the Culture Shock band in their table. They were sitting in the VIP table where the hotel executive officers were sitting. They gave me wine and I thought twice because I didn't have dinner at all. But I ended up gulping a couple of glasses anyway so that's the end of the story.

Marlou and Brice played 2-piece for the 1st set, for the 2nd night. Last night, I was asked to rehearse during our 1st set so they had to play the first set as a 2 piece. I joined them halfway and there were funny & puzzled looks on the faces of the guests. Probably they're thinking that I was late for work. So tonight, we decided that they'll just finish the 1st set. Better that way.

I'll be performing tomorrow for the 2nd night of the staff party again. Hopefully it's more exciting tomorrow. Ciao!

Diet time!

We have gained a lot of weight during our Shanghai trip. Mainly because we don't dance every night and because Marlou has already learned how to cook especially my favorite dishes. But the three of us made a pact that we will have to start our diet this week.

Hmmm, who can survive everytime Marlou cooks? Who can resist? Who will eventually give in? Let's roll the drums...

Blue Sunday

Today, I've been so affected by my mood. I'm feeling down with no reason at all. Maybe it's the stress from work. Because performing is my outlet for my emotions and I've been emotionless for a few months at work, so maybe it's taking its toll.

It's a BATS night for us and during the first 2 sets, I was okay. But on the 3rd set when I felt the soles of my feet aching, my mood changed until we finished our gig at 1AM.

After work, we just went back to change. Marlou did his finishing touches to his macaroni salad for Marcial. Then we went to the D'Zone band house, it's Marcial's birthday. When we arrived there, the Pudong Paulaner band, Blue Heaven, was already there and couple of BATS live band, Culture Shock, and few other musicians from different groups.

Yes, it's a party. But due to my mood, I didn't drink any alcohol after eating. Not even a single drop! And I just sat in a corner, just listening to the jokes of JJ, former keyboardist of Blue Heaven band.

Went back home at 5AM and I think I will be taking my body to rest after this blog. Hope this week will be a good one for me and my health. Ciao!

6 more weeks to go...

We still have 6 more weeks to endure here in Shanghai. Not that I don't like Shanghai, it's just that as an artiste, I'm not that well-motivated as I used to be. Maybe because there are lesser challenges and more pressure at work. Or maybe I just prefer KL so much. Parties are more fun here though, but I like the people in Malaysia. More like Filipinos. Anyway, we came from the same race (not horse race, hahaha!).

Marlou's B-day Party

Marlou's birthday was August 12, but we celebrated his birthday a day after so that we can get the weekend party feeling. Saturday was a great choice because everyone was in their best party mood. The first guest was my Shanghainese sister Mumay, who resembles Filipina actress Gladys Reyes. She's been in the hotel since our 2nd set! So after our set, we went back home straight. While Marlou did his last minute cooking and preparation, Brice and I did our last minute arranging of the house and helping out Marlou. We also ate our supper ahead because we know that we will be very busy entertaining visitors later on.

D'Zone band (Alex, Nini & Marcial) arrived at almost 2AM. They brought drinks and additional food. Then Joanne & Noel of Culture Shock band arrived after 2AM. Since Marlou's still cooking the rice, we just opened the wine for the girls and the guys opened their beers and just toasted our glasses to wish Marlou on his birthday.

Party officially started at 2:30AM when guests came in groups. Bands usually finish at a later schedule on weekends. I got busy when I became the hostess, photographer and phone operator, for friends who kept on calling and asking for directions. I was bringing with me 3 phones: my mobile, Marlou's mobile and our cordless house phone! Mumay helped me out by talking to the drivers and giving them directions in Chinese, whenever somebody would phone me and ask directions.

A prayer before meal was led by Nini and soon after, everyone was holding his/her own paper plate with a glass/bottle/can of dirnk in their hands. Marlou cooked the sumptuous food, with the help of D'Zone. Of course, it's Filipino cuisine. Mumay brought the birthday cake while drinks were brought in by generous friends.

The crowd was divided into three: 1) The Loungers - most of them were the ones who got in first and got their own space in the living room. 2) The Party Animals - who crammed in the SRO kitchen. 3) The Freelancers - those who would go around finding somewhere to sit on when somebody has taken their previous seat.

The party went well. We made fun of Joanne who tried her best to say phrases in Visayan dialect. Nini and I had a bit of a showdown, to everyone's delight. Don't want to elaborate about it to be safe, but it involved me being the Undefeated Champion for Impersonating for 5 years. Wish they have given me a plaque on my name.

I also gave food to the guard on our building for allowing our friends to come in. The guard was so happy. Although I got a little worried of the noise we were making especially when everyone was laughing during the "impersonation" battle.

People started leaving in groups as well, just the way they arrived to the party. After the last group left at 6:30AM, Marlou and I got busy cleaning the house. Eventhough I was a bit drunk, I had to alert my senses and make sure that there wasn't any spot left. Marlou took charge in the kitchen by keeping the leftover food and washing the dishes while I wiped the tables, rearranged the chairs, swept the floor. We had to do the cleaning before we sleep because the owner might pop in anytime to check his unit.

We finished cleaning the house at 8:30AM and went to bed at 9AM. My sleep was so good and undisturbed and I wasted my whole daytime-off by sleeping. I woke up at 7PM!!!

Thanks to all of you who have remembered and made Marlou happy by simply sending your birthday greetings and wishes to him. Thanks to all of you who have attended and made the party memorable. Thanks to those people who have helped out in making the party possible.

Till next party again!!! God bless us all!<

Party's over

Marlou's birthday party is over. It's almost 8AM and I haven't slept. Just finished helping Marlou to clean the house. It's just me and him, Brice has already passed out in her bedroom. Last batch left at 6:30AM. It's our day off today, so we have the whole day to take a rest. It was a great party though. I'll tell you more about it tomorrow, k? Ciao!

Busy Saturday

It's Saturday and I've been running inside and outside the house since 2PM. Needed to buy stuff for tonight's party. It's Marlou's birthday celebration tonight, just a small party for our friends who have remembered. It'll be the first time we're having a party in our apartment so I hope everything will turn out okay. We don't want to experience being knocked by neighbors and guards on the door, like what we've experienced in other parties. Hope everything will be okay. Crossing my fingers... and toes.

Will try to update you later during the party. I wanted to upload pics during having the party. Will try.

Missing Selena

These are one of those days when I wish Selena's with us to celebrate with us.

I always miss her, especially since the day I left her in Manila last April 1st. After spending time with her for 5 months, I have been missing her terribly especially whenever I see the pictures and funny videos I took of her. She spent 4 months in KL with us and another month in the Philippines during our vacation last March. That was the longest time I have ever spent with her since she was born. I started working again when she was just 3 months old. Since then, I only could see her in pictures and during our vacations which I have managed to get every year.

I'm not really worried because my mom is the one taking care of her in Manila. And my mom has done great job in raising me and my brothers, and she's doing very very well in raising my daughter as well. Spoling Selena most of the time, but it's alright.

I'm so lucky that she's smart and wise for her age. She truly understands that Mommy and Daddy have to work for her future, for her schools and for buying the things she wants. I remember just before I left her last April. I stood outside the house and she asked for a big hug. I tried to be strong but I cried and told her that Mommy's sad. She looked at me and said in a matured tone, "Why are you sad? Remember, you have to work because I am going to school soon! You have to buy my uniforms, my shoes, my books".

I bought a PC at home so I can chat with her once in a while, if not on a daily basis. But nobody at home knows what to do when there's a virus or a system shutdown pop-up screens, so my mom didn't want to use the computer anymore. So now, I'll just have to rely on phone calls and just listen to her stories about her classmates, her friends, what she ate for the day, whether she's done with her homework. Luckily, IP cards, the IDD cards that are used in China for international calls, are cheap. I can get a RMB100 worth of IP card for just RMB30-35, which could call Philippines and other countries for 27 minutes. Not bad, huh!

So, as I share this sentiment to you, I know that those parents who are reading this blog know exactly what I'm feeling everyday. Life is definitely full of sacrifices for future surprises.

He kneaded me...

Since we didn't have any special celebration for his birthday, both of us went to the nearby Tang Dynasty Blind Man Massage. We got there just on time, 1AM, to have an hour massage. They close at 2AM. Marlou had foot massage and I had full body massage so we were sent to different areas of the massage parlor.

A guy and a girl led me to a dimly-lit room. I didn't know what to do whether to get undressed or not, but the guy asked me to just lie, face down, on the massage table. Yes, my massager was GUY, and he's not even blind!!! So I thought, hmmmm, this could be a different experience, so I just laid down, inserting my face into the face rest hole. Oh my, he was so strong so I told him in my best broken Chinese way that it hurts... HEY, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE MASSAGE HERE, hahaha!

So he started with my upper back, kneading, pressing hard, kneading, shaking. The reason why I had a massage was to be relaxed but there he was, shaking every inch of my flesh! And I could tell that he was a perv because he was breathing heavily while kneading my back and when he came to the side of the table, he once brushed his thingy with my elbow! Oh my god, I was chortling under the table (my head was stuck on the face rest) and I couldn't wait for the massage to be over for me to tell my experience to Marl. So he continued massaging my back, lower back, my thighs, my legs. He even cracked the bones on my body by twisting it like how they'd do it in Thai massage.

An hour passed and I got off the table. The guy was smiling as he left the room, he must have thought that he had scored for the night. I went out of the room, smiling as well, coz it was a rather very funny experience for me. It wasn't pleasurable at all, in fact a bit uncomfortable, but I had a good laugh about it. There wasn't anything wrong about it in my point of view, I was fully dressed and the room was opened. He didn't try to make pass on me by touching any part that's not needed to be massaged, not even my butt... oh well, he patted it a bit, but I didn't find it offending or malicious at all.

It's just that poor Marlou had to deal with the thought of a stranger touching his wife's body on his birthday! Hahaha! Happy birthday again, Babes!

Happy Birthday Marlou!

Yes, it's his birthday. I was quite unsuccessful this year to let him play the birthday song for himself because we're not even allowed to do spiels in between songs, so it'll be useless to greet him. Just before our last set, around 11:20PM, I joked and asked him if he can make fun of himself and just play the birthday song, he rejected my fun idea, or stupid.

Every year, I would always think of ways to greet him onstage. Since he's the one behind the music, it's kinda hard to think of ways. One way is to ask a friend or a staff to write a birthday song request for someone else. Another way is to bring out the cake so he'll be forced to play the birthday song. And since I've done most of those ways for the past years, I ran out of ways today. So just before he sang one song, I just said in a quiet voice (remember we're not allowed to do spiels) while looking around if our GM was around, "And now, we'd like to feature our birthday boy, Marlou, happy birthday Marlou!", and that's it.

No party after work because we scheduled a small party this coming Saturday after work. It'll just be a small gathering of people who would like to come & who would remember. I feel sad thought because I won't be the typical "snap here, snap there" party person this time, because my camera is still broken!

Anyway, happy birthday, Babes! I love you!

its not jst ur heart bby... WE WILL break mine too...

Smart ink

Finally bought my printer ink. I bought the twin pack because it's very difficult to converse with the Chinese shopkeepers. First I checked some other printer/ink stores, but they didn't have stock of it. Then I went to this Canon shop where they sell Canon printers, and asked if they have an ink cartridge for my Canon printer. She shook her head, thought she meant they don't have it. Then she asked me to write down in a piece of paper. So I wrote the model of my printer and the ink cartridge number. I explained to her in charades style with matching arrows between the written stuff, she said "ok, wait a moment, please sit down" and left the shop. After a minute or so, she came back to the shop, holding the printer in her arms so I chuckled. Behind the printer were boxes of the ink cartridge. Thank goodness! That wasn't a smart move bringing both the printer and the ink cartridges to me with all the charades-style explanation, but I would agree that it somehow was the smart move to save a trip from the upper floor!

Rainy days are here again...

We had our BATS gig a few hours ago. The hotel was quiet, so was BATS. But at least, the few people that we had there were all listening. It's been raining since Friday night, and it's still raining outside as I'm blogging this entry. I'm running out of printer ink and I need to buy soon, hopefully the rain will stop when I wake up in the afternoon.

I'm having a huge pimple on my lower left cheek and I couldn't wait to just bust it off! It irritates me whenever I see my face in the mirror... and our current house has lots of mirrors and glasses around so I really can't escape getting irritated.

Marlou cooked Afritada just before we went for work and that's what we ate for supper after work. Brice and I chatted about our school lives until 5AM. It's fun reminiscing those times because I can really say that I have lived my high school life. I've done enough prestige and damage during that time, all of which I'm proud of. I wasn't the typical school girl who would just go to school and go back home afterwards. I have lots of extra curricular activities for my notoriety even during classes.

Anyway, I've been blabbing a lot for the past 4 hours and singing for another 4 hours prior to that. So I'll just stop here. Till next blog.

Typhoon weekend in Shanghai

Typhoon started yesterday (Friday) while we were playing our 1st set. However, we already noticed the strong winds while we were waiting for a cab to take us to work. Lots of people got stranded in the hotel last night.

Today or tonight, was the worst part so far. Flights had been cancelled. When we arrived for work, the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel looked more like an airport with a zigzag queue for people to pass through to reach the front desk. There were 2 queues: economy & business class. It turned out that the passangers of the cancelled flights of Dragon Air are staying for the night. Lucky crooks!

Saturdays are usually quieter than Fridays or busy weekend days. But tonight was different. The lobby was filled with people listening to our music. And it was therefore a great night.

But I must say, that the typhoon in Philippines is much stronger and much scarier than this. If it had been raining non-stop for 2 days, Manila will be flooded and the poverty-stricken society might have asked for help or might been relocated or evacuated to a safer place.

I heard from the hotel people that the typhoon will continue for another day or so. Hope it stops tomorrow as we have to do our soundcheck at the BATS in the afternoon and because we have a BATS gig at night tomorrow.

Talking about BATS, I will have to log off now. I need to teach Brice new choreographies for our new songs. Tah-tah!

Blogging effort

I'm quite busy right now. I don't know why. But once I sit infront of my computer, I'd be engrossed with lots of things that I couldn't even keep track of the time. But I'm trying to at least give blogging an effort. My visitors like you deserve something better than my every other day entries.

I uploaded some new photos on my pbase recently. They're nice & clear that I'm so excited to show to everyone, especially the solo "ala-studio" shots that Marlou took. But I took some of it down, for some personal reasong.

I know that most of you think that I'm obsessed with vanity. Whatever. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. For me, it's sharing people what I have. Take for instance this website or simply this blog page. I can just forget about it and not update it. But I know people like you, especially those who are close the me, want to know what I've been up to lately. I receive lots of mails everyday and it saves me from replying all of those senders just to tell them how I've been lately.

So anyway, here I am, thinking that what I've blogged is purely non-sense. What the heck! People want to know and read some non-sense stuff too, right?

One day thousander

One day thousander...

Can't say "one day millionaire", maybe if I'm in Indonesia I can say that I'm a "one day rupiah millionaire", but we're here in China and we're being paid in US dollars. So I'll just be contented to say that I'm a "one day thousander".

It was payday and the money just slipped through my palm again. Yes, palm, my left hand didn't even have the chance to touch it! Asked Marl to keep it because he will send our money tomorrow through Metrobank. He can always wake up way too early before me.

That's the reason why my dresses were a bit daring or vulgar... because I can only pay half of it, so the tailor would just make half! Hahaha!

Have a good day folks!

Moody Sunday

Woke up today at 11:30AM with a big-time headache. The room was spinning but I forced myself to get up. I've only had a little more than 3 hours because me and Marlou finished watching "Fanstastic Four" on DVD at almost 8AM. Made my coffee, prepared myself for church. Brice had her lunch while I had my coffee, barely speaking because I wasn't really in a good mood.

We arrived church just before the mass started. I was so sleepy and I didn't actually understood anything, especially during the Homily. What was worse (for me) was there were people being baptized and it took quite a longer time for the mass to end. After the mass, we walked all the way to the FuXing Electronic Market (Bldg) to check out some stuff there. I bought a rice cooker for Marlou, he's been bugging me about it for a week now. I also managed to find a cuticle nipper, thank goodness! We finished roaming around building at about 5PM and headed back home.

I was feeling really tired when I got home but when I saw my computer, it reminded me handful stuff for me finish so I didn't go to take a rest. Marlou cooked dinner. At about 11PM, our friends came over to have a dinner. More friends came at 1:30AM. They brought only a couple bottles of red wine because everyone were still waiting for salary day - hopefully tomorrow. We finished at past 4AM.

Here I am, trying to stay focused to blog properly. But I'm really dead beat tired so till next blog!
