Watch: Blabbin' Sars - I'm a Poise Makeup Brand Ambassador!

I had a feeling that this year is going to be lucky for me. And I was right. This lucky Year of the Monkey has started beautifully for me because I was offered to be Poise Makeup Brand Ambassador! A professional makeup made in the U.S. used by Hollywood makeup artists is now in the Philippines. I'm so happy because I thought the whole thing won't materialize with me being here in Malaysia. But they still wanted me to be a brand ambassador! Weeee!

They sent me a complete Poise Makeup Kit that I can play around, I can use for my nightly performances and other engagements, I can blog about. I will be starting to post makeup stuff here in my blog, and hopefully I can do my makeup tutorials and reviews when I'm back in April, fresh from my month-long backpacking in March. Who knows, someone might be going back to professional makeup artistry!

I'm so happy to be a part of Poise Makeup Philippines family and to be one of the Women of Poise!

Watch: Blabbin' Sars - 3 Parcels

To start off (before you give me the thumbs down), I'm making this attempt to go back to vlogging  again. It's just an ordinary day getting something from the mail. But that day was exceptional coz I got 3 parcels (normally I get 1 or 2 in a week from online shopping) - coz of the CNY holiday break. So since I wanted to try vlogging again, I thought it would perfectly suit my nonsense topic for my first Blabbin' Sars episode. Enjoy!

Sundate at Wayne's

Sunday Brunch at La Casa @ Verve Suites
Guess most of our friends know, at least on social media, that we've been friends with a great Aussie guy named Wayne Kline, who has taken us to cool and amazing places and has been a great friend of ours for about 12 years! He's one of our very regular guests at Shangri-La KL in 2004 whenever he was in town. Then that went on for years and we have shared great moments since then. He even visited us in Qingdao, China in 2008, partied with us there, and brought us to Beijing for a day to see Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and the Great Wall of China. And when we went back to Manila in 2012 and kind of settled down there, he'd make these short trips to see us and spend time with us, and other friends he has met along the way. And now that we're in KL and he has retired here, it's like we've gone inseparable because we are always together whenever possible. We always look out for each other and always try to be there for one another. I guess that's what true friends are for. We love you, Wayne! Thank you for everything that you are!

Here's a video during our last #Sundayoff with him, in his beautiful abode at Verve Suites in Mont Kiara KL. Our friend Akashah, who works at Horizon Club of Shangri-La Hotel, joined us for a fun, chillaxing Sunday afternoon at Verve Suites' Sky Beach on the 33rd floor, a man made beach complete with palm trees and white sand, and relaxing sun beds. Enjoy!

Blog-A-Blurtz is now a Shining, Shimmering, Splendored World!

A Whole New World for www.saritaonline.com
I have been working on my new website on another server for the past couple of weeks. Instead of starting its blog feature, which is included in the monthly fee that I'd be paying, I tried importing my Blogger posts in it. But it didn't work out well because I didn't like how it looks and how it works on my new site. Besides, I'll be starting all over again. So last Saturday, I decided to keep my 11-year-old Blogger site and use my domain www.saritaonline.com in it. I also found out that I can make it like the website that I was designing by adding pages on the menu bar - About Me, News, URB Band, Videos, Music, Instagram, Twitter, Contact pages. I also added a new header image which I only edited on my iPhone (hail to Picsart app!), played around with different templates until I found the one that would perfectly fit my "shining, shimmering, splendored world". I just needed to tweak with the CNAME settings on my domain registrar and tick here and there on my Blogger dashboard... and voila!!!

It now works well with mobile devices, too, with its mobile version. But I suggest that you must try navigating it from a desktop to see its cool static background. More changes to follow in the following days. I'm also rushing and preparing this site for our BACKPACKING ADVENTURE in March! *excited*

Let me know if you have any suggestions to make it more interactive and engaging!Goodye to Blog-A-Blurtz... and HELLO TO MY NEW SHINING, SHIMMERING, SPLENDORED WORLD!

Watch: Chap Goh Mei at Souled Out Sri Hartamas

Pre-dinner Mojito cocktails with the gang
After spending a great Sunday afternoon at Verve Suites with our friends Wayne and Akashah, we celebrated the last day of the Chinese New Year or what is called 'Chap Goh Me' at one of our favorite chill-out places, Souled Out in Sri Hartamas. They have prepared a very special entertainment specifically for CNY with a buffet spread. Chinese instrumentalists, acrobats, mask/face changer, lion dance, staff dance, and an amazing fireworks display... it was a night well-spent with friends. Thanks again, Wayne, for inviting us!

Watch: Valentine's Day 2016 in KL

Valentine's Day is sooo overrated. And yes, I can say that again and again. It has become so commercialised that establishments use the day for their romantic dinner sets, Valentine's sale, etc. And my husband knows that I really am not fond of flowers - coz they wither away. Yes they look nice, but it's just a waste of money for me. Want to show your affection? Chocolates and wine will do for me - coz these would really make me happy. Or better yet, gadgets. Oh YES, gadgets always make me HAPPIER! Hahaha!

So what did we do on V-day? Luckily it fell on our offday (Sunday) this year. In the afternoon, we went to Berjaya Times Square to shop for some stuff that we will need for our backpacking adventure in March. I also bought new bands for my Apple Watch and some accessories for my Sony Action Cam at Low Yat Plaza. Yes, we're that excited for the upcoming adventure! :)

At night, we attended the grand 82nd birthday celebration of our friend Gan's mother, who we also call "Mother" as everybody in the party did. The party was held at The Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Hotel KL and our friend Cess, Gan's life partner, made sure that we didn't lose our way coming from our room. LOL! We were delighted to sit next to Cess and Gan's posse, who are also our guests in the Lobby Lounge, like Cherry, Cheryl, Leah, Hawa, and Cess' identical twin sister Tara and her beautiful family. Food was great and the pacing between dishes was alright. Entertainment was provided by the members of the family, and I was pretty amazed at how musically talented the Gan clan is. It was fun especially when karaoke time started. All the ladies in our table backed Cheryl up during her spot singing "Dancing Queen". And I also sang "Mercy" and the ladies also backed me up with their great dancing and stage presence. So thankful to Cess and Gan for inviting us and the rest of the Gan clan for being so welcoming and nice to us. Here's the video of my performance and some photos:

Oh and just wanna share these sweet-nothings,Valentine's Day posts on Facebook and Instagram that Marl and I made for each other... as if we never get to express our love for each other every single day. LOL!

And here's a funny snippet of us greeting our friend Arpie, who's in Manila, on Valentine's Day through a video message. His response was hilarious. LOL!

And there goes my Valentine's Day in 2016. Not so Valentine-y but it was just as awesome as a romantic evening. Hope you all had a great celebration in your own way. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Passport renewal in Kuala Lumpur

Got my new passport!
Finally got my new passport! Contrary to the 2-month passport renewal processing of Philippine Embassies around the world that I read online, I got mine just after 3 weeks. Yayyy for that!

Receipt
Before renewing my passport in the beginning of January 2016, I researched online and read some blogs about it. I was kinda scared of not having my new passport back right on time just before we finish our 6-month stint in KL at the end of February. But I went to the Philippine Embassy of Malaysia anyway to do my renewal. I was assisted by Jericho and Jenny - our good old friends from the embassy from way back when (LOL!). Glad that they're still there!

Passport Finder Info
Anyway, when my turn came, I was asked to pay RM 255 - that's just about double of what we pay in the Philippines for passport processing! But I think it's just fair with all the international courier service and the unexpectedly faster processing. Along with my receipt is a note on Passport Finder - an online tracking thing for passports so the applicant won't have to call, or worse go to the embassy, every single day just to check if the passport is ready for pickup. All you have to do is enter the passport application number that's on your receipt. Out of curiosity, I logged on it and I checked mine around 3 weeks after application and voila! It's ready for pickup! Yesss! But with the Chinese New Year holiday, I just decided to pick it up yesterday - the first day of work after CNY. Glad to see the beautiful Jenny again.

With just more than 2 weeks left of our 6-month stint in Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Marl and I are very busy planning for our backpacking tour during the whole month of March for our well-deserved break. We are coming back again in April to do another 6-month contract and we're very thankful for that!

It's in my hands... finally!

It's in my hands, finally! I'd like to thank National Customer's Choice Annual Awards for the prestigious recognition for the "Most Outstanding Professional Achievement Award in Entertainment and TV Commercial Modeling. I was supposed to perform on the awards night itself which was held at Richmonde Hotel in Eastwood Quzon City on December 9, 2015. But too bad, there were lots of papers to accomplish and submit before we can get the Balik-Manggagawa - an important receipt that only Philippine Embassy Labor Office can issue. Well that means I still owe them a performance next time.

The organizers of the event were kind enough to send my trophy, certificate, and the souvenir magazine to my condo, which was then carefully brought to KL by my bestie Wayne Kline during one of his trips from Manila. Super thankful, blessed, and amazed by the wonderful blessings that has been raining all over me! Thank you again to the Chairman of NCCAA, Jojo Lemque!

Fun CNY weekend with Arpie in KL

Cocktails at Marini's on 57

We were pleasantly surprised when Arpie Patriarca, our favorite entertainer/host/comedian in Manila and known as the band leader of Arpie and The Multivitamins, came to Kuala Lumpur. Only our friend Wayne Kline knew about it. So as we met last Saturday for our traditional Saturday afternoon bonding session, Arpie came to surprise us. And yes, it was indeed a successful surprise! And it was indeed a fun weekend with Arpie around! Thank you, Wayne! Here are the videos that would justify the fun we had from Arthur's Bar and Grill, Lafite, Lobby Lounge, La Casa at Verve Suites, Berjaya Times Square, and Marini's on 57!
