New wardrobe for U.R.B.

Change is something we need now and I guess it's just about time to do that.

I guess people have already been sick and tired of seeing us in a more than casual wear every night. Therefore, we decided to go back a bit - a notch lower - and be more casual for a more casual venue like The Pub.
It's definitely a lot of change for us since we've been used to wearing cocktail dresses and gowns over the years. Now time to keep those clothes in the luggage and time to change the wardrobe.

Thanks to friends like MelFay86 for taking our videos & photos. Follow me on twitter.com/saritaonline

Guess who's back in town?

Yup! Her royal highness Princessette Selena is back! :-)
I am complete. Again. :-)

Stuck?

These are my fave pair of earrings that were caught stuck in my accessories kit. It just wouldn't come off from being stuck in my accessories kit - just when I wanted to wear it - however hard I pulled it from the kit. But when I went back to it in a more relaxed and patient mood and in a time when I don't need it, it just came off easily.

Which taught me something in life.

Whenever I feel stuck in a situation or in an awkward situation, I let time do its magic. I don't force it to fade away nor sit in a corner of the room and weep. For every little thing has its own place in the right time. Every problem has its own solution. You may not have it in your hands right now, but it will eventually come to you.

And when that time finally comes, you'd be soooo relieved - just like the way I felt when my earrings let go from being stuck.

PS: I'm dedicating this post to my sis, Melfay, and to all of you out there who are feeling "stuck".

I'm featured on Yahoo! Philippines - YET AGAIN!

I was featured on Yahoo! Philippines last week with my Michael Jackson performance in high heels and gown. Read on my blog post about it HERE. I never thought they would feature me again - for the second time around! Woahhhhh!

This time, they featured one of the best performances I've ever done - and hilarious too. Watch out for the bit of my "flying shoe". LOL. READ THE FEATURED ARTICLE HERE!

Thank you so much, Yahoo! Philippines editors, especially to Joey Alarilla (thanks for the screenshot below, too!). Follow me on Yahoo! Meme and follow me on Twitter!Link

The model and makeup artist

I know I've been slacking quite a lot lately on updating my site and my blog. But if you're following me on Twitter, I bet you're sick of seeing my rants, happiness and stupid happenings on your timeline. :-)

Hmmm... it's already 2010. And the first quarter is about to end. I've done quite a lot since December 2009.

As a Model
Aside from being a personal model of Marl aka Badeedadee, I've modeled to a few other photographers in the Philippines and in Malaysia. Right now, I have more than enough to build different kinds of portfolios should I need them. :-)

Click here to see my online portfolio or here to visit Badeedadee Photography website.

As a Makeup Artist (MUA)
I am my own makeup artist ever since I started singing overseas. In the Philippines before I started traveling, I'd leave it to my makeup artist whenever I do TV guestings, show and photo shoots. But once I stepped out into a whole new world of entertainment - which is the music band scene, I had no choice but to learn how to enhance my features.

Over the years, I've been successful in that but I felt I needed to touch the basics if I really want to add "makeup artist" under my belt. So I finished a Beauty and Advanced professional makeup artistry at Toni&Guy Essensuals in Makati last January. My teacher Cheryl Cabanos who is a known celebrity makeup artist was so kind enough to squeeze in different lessons that I wanted to learn. I'm still waiting for the certificate from London though before I can finally say that I'm a certified MUA. :-)

I'm featured on Yahoo! Philippines TODAY!

I'm so humbled and happy to be featured on Yahoo! Philippines today. Weeeee!

The featured video was actually shot on the day when my idol Michael Jackson passed away in 2009. We received a request slip asking for Beat It & Billie Jean. I was about to apologize because I actually haven't done it yet in a long gown - but too late because our band leader already loaded the song & pressed play! Sooooo there it went. LOL.

I'm so used to performing it in an MJ costume, so basically the Yahoo!-featured video was my first attempt in performing it in long gown & high heels, which was shot by my friend and god sister, Melfay86.

Since Yahoo! News change frequently, you might not be able to see me in one of the 16 featured headline news. But you can see it archived here: http://meme.yahoo.com/spotlight/p/osqgkhr.

And in case, you missed the Yahoo! Philippines homepage today, here's a screencap by @JoeyAlarilla (Maraming salamat, Joey!):

The show must go on

The show must go on. That's what I always say to myself - no matter what, no matter how. Even if I'm having a bad day, even if I'm not feeling well - you can always see the same energy level in me every night. Performing is my life. And no one can take that away from me.

But sometimes things can get pretty out of hand when I'm onstage. Just like what happened to me last night while I was doing my dance routine for the song "Jai Ho". I accidentally hit my microphone right on my left eye! OUCH! There was a loud thump on the speakers when it happened that left my band mates and guests wondering what the hell happened. I tried to conceal and pretended nothing happened, though I must admit that I saw some twinkling stars. LOL.

Then the vision on my left eye blurred & had a light stinging pain, thought it was my contact lens getting out of my eye. But then I realized it was the blood dripping from the cut on my eyelid that was made by my microphone. Oh no! The sight of blood on the tissues made me weak in the knees. But we're just halfway through our third set. As soon as we finished the set, I ran to my friends Kuya Terry & Ate Mel who helped "cure" my eye. Thank you, Kuya!

The last set went on smoothly as if nothing happened but when we were done with the show for the night, instead of getting worried about the crisscross cuts on my eyelid, Marl and I laughed about the half-strip of the eyelashes that I lost. That only proved that the impact was so hard that half of my eye's lashes got pulled off!

The highlight was when I told Marl that I lost a strip of my eyelashes, while looking up close to it with a shocked look on his face, he asked me, "where did it go?!?". LOL.

The show must go on. And so it did.

Sinulog Festival in Cebu

January is a festive month next to December in the Philippines. Aside from celebrating the New Year, it's the time when most of the islands have their colorful festivals like the Sinulog Festival in Cebu.

The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines with a very rich history. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who is the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu.

The festival features some the country’s most colorful displays of pomp and pageantry: participants garbed in bright-colored costumes dance to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. The streets are usually lined with vendors and pedestrians all wanting to witness the street-dancing.
