Sarita Marlou Videography - Wesak Day 2016 in Malaysia

Last Saturday (May 21), I had a call from our big brother Kuya Terry Teo that they need our family team's videography services for a remarkable event at the Sakyamuni Dharma Centre, a Buddhist centre where's he's not only a member, but he is the President of SDC. After relaying the information on the venue and time, I confirmed our attendance. Then he called back again and said that he wanted me to be the emcee instead and just leave the videography to hubby and daughter. I was kinda hesitant at first because first of all, I don't know a thing about Buddhism and secondly, I haven't witnessed a Wesak Day celebration. But Kuya Terry had already put his full trust on me that I could really do it. And that alone is a manifestation that I could be their event's emcee.

Woke up early on Sunday, May 22 2016. I only had 3 hours sleep because after work, I spent the whole night researching on what kind of event I'd be emceeing. I have always been like that. It's better to aim for the moon and shoot for the stars. We arrived at the centre at around 9AM. I was then ushered by a organizer's representative to their small office for a briefing on what the occasion is all about and what it would be like. I also printed materials with me for my guidance.

The event was organized by the Vajrayana Buddhist Council of Malaysia (VBCM) and was held at the Sakyamuni Dharma Centre in Petaling Jaya. Program proper should have started at 9:30AM but I guess, people really preferred to come fashionably late. Hubby was asked to go upstairs to take photos and videos of a group of monks who came to visit the Guest of Honor from Tibet, His Eminence Sharpa Choepel Rinpoche who came all the way from Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India. It was almost 11AM when the program officially started.

There was an Invocational Prayers led by the Denma Khantsen Monks from Tibet, followed by the Snow Lion and Yak Dance, to symbolize the affair. After speeches from the organizers, the Guest of Honor lighted the candle to officially mark the celebration then blessings came afterwards. I also queued up and was given blessings eventhough I'm not a Buddhist. But I believe blessings are still blessings, regardless of what religion you have. We all praise One God and that's what's important, right?

Anyway, here's what happened on that day, taken by Sarita Marlou Videography. Enjoy!

I'm sure this has already happened to you or any of your photo-enthusiastic/selfie -addict friends. When you thought that it's a photo, but it ain't. LOL!

Sarita Marlou Videography: Official Launch of CAT 745C & 349D2 Trucks

I have been fortunate to be a part of a remarkable milestone for 3 big companies: Pembinaan Tetap Teguh Sdn. Bhd., Sime Darby Industrial, and Caterpillar Inc. Last May 5, I hosted the launching of CAT 745C Articulated Truck and 349D2 L Hydraulic Excavator. The organizers and coordinators of the said event have been very helpful prior to the event - as I don't know a thing about trucks. I accepted the job because it was at daytime and I didn't have anything to do on that day. Besides, my husband Marl and my daughter Selena were also assigned in the videography - even though they already have their videography team.

We left our hotel at around 7AM, and reached just in time at 8AM for breakfast at Denai Alam Recreational & Riding Club (DARC) in Shah, Alam. The horse club is owned by our good friend and big brother, Terry Teo, who is also the executive chairman of PTT and who was the one who suggested the event organizers to get me as the emcee. The event was just 5-10 minutes away from DARC. I went ahead of them as I need to go for a briefing with the organizers. The rest of them - Kuya Terry and his guests, along with my family - arrived the venue in timely fashion. Yes, they were late as VIPs would be, LOL!

Weather was great, but it was too hot during noontime. But thankfully, the event went by flawlessly and we went back to the hotel just in time for our afternoon nap - before working at night. I never imagined that I would be able to witness an event like this. For me, it's just a monster truck that I would usually see in construction sites. But what I didn't know that a CAT 745C truck costs about Php 20 Million (RM 1.7 Million) - and Kuya Terry's company bought at least 3 of them - and hundred over different types of construction trucks for their different projects. Maybe I can just scrape off the dust from one of its huge tires, sell the dust online, and I can already live a decent life for a few months - that's how expensive it is! LOL!

To those behind the event, thank you so much! Here's the video that took me forever to edit - because my Mac has been acting up BIG TIME! Anyway, here it is after 48 years...
