I just hit 500 subscribers on Youtube!

There are lots of exciting things happening in my daily life. My recent blog posts can attest to that. Yesterday, I saw and met Lea Salonga in person. Last night, I hit 500 subscribers on Youtube - and still counting. Yayyyy for that! :)
Since most of my performance videos are uploaded by friends like Reen and Melfay, I seldom upload stuff on my own channel. But recently I uploaded a video of my daughter Selena to show to the world what a talented daughter we have.
Thanks to my Youtube friends who have been constantly doing shoutouts for me on their videos and vlogs. Now, what could I offer these 500+ subscribers so they won't unsubscribe? Check out my Youtube channels:

An Evening with Lea Salonga... Definitely!

Our Filipino friend and photography buddy of Marl, Jay Fuerzas, called us up in the afternoon when he got hold of complimentary tickets for Lea Salonga's concert. He was able to watch the full-packed show on Saturday night and thought to give the tickets to us instead. So nice of him, really. Thanks, Jay!

Lea Salonga has been my icon and inspiration when I was starting out as a singer. So watching her live last night is one of my dreams come true. And boy was I glad when most of the songs that she sang during her second night show at the KLCC Plenary Hall were those songs that have inspired me like Miss Saigon's "I'd Give My Life For You", Les Miserables' "I Dreamed A Dream" and "On My Own", Aladdin's "A Whole New World", Mulan's "Reflection", Annie's "Tomorrow", and other songs that I can really relate to. What's amazing is she did a Malaysian song called "Tiga Malam" and got the crowd cheering with her rendition of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face". She did 2 encore numbers after she got awarded with a Brand Laureate Award.
The merchandise items were selling like hot cakes after the show. Yes, we fell for the RM30 8x10" photo of Lea (and I bought two - one for me & one for Selena) because we wanted to get her autograph. The queue was long and we waited for more than 30 minutes before she came out. But being an avid fan that I am, I didn't mind. Hey, it's my idol & my icon!

When our turn came, she gave her sweetest smile to Selena and said the sweetest "Hello!!!". I said to her "Hi bigsis222!" and she said "yeah, that's what everyone calls me". I was of course referring to the first Twittername. Last year, I was soooo flattered when she actually replied my tweet - a few days after she joined Twitter. Look at the screen cap below.
And now, I finally met her. Definitely, I won't forget this one evening with Ms. Lea Salonga. :)

Santacruzan

Yesterday was my offday and I know I should have been resting. But of course, I couldn't say 'no' to the Philippine Ladies of Kuala Lumpur (PLKL) when they asked me to be an emcee/host at their event.

Being an emcee at events has become an enjoyable thing especially when you know your audience. Today was one of them because aside from having pure Filipino audience, I also have met most of the people involved in that event.

But aside from emceeing the whole event, I also had to sing a duet song with Marl called "The Prayer" as the opening prayer after the Philippine National Anthem. I must say that I really felt the meaning of the song as I sang it as a form of a prayer - the way it should really be sung. It was made more intense because since it was the opening prayer, everyone was standing and nobody was moving - all through out the song. It was one of the best moments I've ever experienced while singing this song. Totally moving.

Of course, our creative and talented family was asked to be part of the event, too. Marl was covering the event as the photographer and Selena had to do an intermission number. She was asked to sing her winning song at the recent DiGi Filipino Superstar, "Isang Lahi". Which made me think that... hmmm, we can actually offer our services at future events like this as the emcee, photographer and singers. Family package deal, eh? LOL. No, seriously.

PHOTOS COMING SOON!

Great week done

Thank God for another great week! After Selena's winning performance at the DiGi's Filipino Superstar singing contest, we've been busy keeping in touch with friends and family.
A lot of great news and offers came in our way. DiGi called and asked Selena to guest at the Philippine Independence Day event on the 13th of June. Too bad, she'll be going back to Manila before that.
As I have mentioned in my previous post, I've got an offer to guest in a local TV sitcom here. But no final words on that as of now so I can't disclose details yet. :)
As for Marl's photography, his recently posted gallery/album called Balinese gained lots of good comments from friends and fans. These shots were from the photoshoot we did at this Balinese property. The friend of my friend owns that private property that's situated just outside the busy city of KL. It's really beautiful and peaceful there.
You can find the Balinese gallery HERE or you can view the slideshow below.

Sars as an actress? Why not!

A TV show producer approached me at work tonight (well, I was the one who went to their table first to say 'hello' so it was more of me approaching them, LOL!) and asked me if I'd be interested to be in a local TV sitcom for a few weeks. It wasn't the first time they've seen me perform. They've already seen me for the past few years. Last week, they came at the Pub with Malaysian actor Hans Isaac. But it was only last night that I've finally known them.

Sars as a local TV actress in Malaysia? Why not! :-)

PS: I gave him my namecard last night so there's a possibility he might be checking my site & blog anytime now. LOL.

Pixelpipe test: Typical KL weather

Testing on posting a landscape pic whether it will also be rotated wrongly when posted.

Ahhhhh! Landscape photo works! :)

Pixelpipe orientation test

Just testing whether this pic will get rotated on my blogs & Twitter. Yeah, it was taken a while ago. :)

One Fine Day in KL

Weeeee, we've got a beautiful weather in KL today. I don't remember seeing beautiful clouds such as these during the past 14 years that we've been coming here in this pretty city. Or maybe I just sleep too much at daytime. LOL.

PS: I posted this via Pixelpipe on iPhone. I'm still tweaking and finding out why it's rotated this way.

Don't mess with me, I just woke up

My 1,001st post on my 5th year as a Blogger :)

Well, this is officially my 1,001st blog post because I previously posted my 1,000th post without me noticing it until I went to my Blogger dashboard to make some corrections on it. Then I saw this. Can't help but screen cap it. LOL.
Reflecting on my life as a blogger for the past 5 years, I never imagine that I'd come this far. I remember my 1st ever blog post on May 10, 2005 in Shanghai, China. :)

I love writing. It makes me express myself more. Even before the word "blog" was created, I've already had a section on my website called "Journal" where I would usually put my daily encounters. Even in school, I'd write something in the school's newspaper especially things that I observe and thoughts that mattered to me.

Sure there were idle moments here on my blog - especially when I got addicted with Twitter and Facebook - but my friends and followers all know that I love blogging. I stopped blogging about my daily encounters though, which were missed by some of my readers. I remember when my Uncle Frank from California wrote to me at one point and said, "Missing your blog is like missing an episode in a TV soap opera". My website has ben changed quite a few times, was moved from one server to another, got blocked in countries like China... but my blog still survived!

Looking back on all my blog-a-blurtz through out the past 5 years... I can now say I have a wonderful, crazy, funny, bountiful, and blessed life. Thank you, God, for all the blessings. :)

What's that over Concorde Hotel? - my 1,000th blog post

Apparently this is my 1,000th blog post and I just noticed
that I've been blogging for 5 years! Weeeeeee!

Congratulations to our princessette, Selena! - Now on video!

This isn't her first singing contest, but it is definitely her first BIG singing contest outside of her school and outside of the Philippines.

Selena Marie, our unica hija who represented KL Pinoy Online Community, joined the "Filipino Superstar" singing contest sponsored by DiGi yesterday. She was the youngest of the 30 contestants in the said competition, yet she wowed the audience and the judges with her rendition of a patriotic Tagalog song, "Isang Lahi", which led her to be the youngest (yet again) among the Top 5 finalists!

To all the contestants who did their best, kudos to you. It is not easy to stand in front of hundreds of people so congratulations to you, too, for being the representative of your corresponding communities.

To the other 4 finalists in the Top 5 along with Selena, congratulations to you. And to the top 3 who won the competition, you definitely deserve it! :)

To our friends who have supported us through their kinds words and messages, thank you so much! Selena has been reading all your messages & comments before, during, and after the competition.

And to our dearest princessette, Selena, congratulations and may this embark a great new beginning to your bright future. Although we are often separated by distance because of our work most of the time, you know that we will always be behind you in every step of your way. We love you soooooo much!

Here is her performance video! :)

The photos of the competition are on this gallery or you can view the slideshow below. All photos taken by the proud father, BadeeDadee. There are almost 300 photos though, so please be patient. :)

Bathroom Dance by Gagang Lady

Michael V., who is fondly called "Bitoy", is a very talented singer, composer, actor and comedian in the Philippines. His regular weekly show "Bubble Gang" is one of the most watched TV shows in the Philippine television where they do spoofs and parodies.

Here is his latest spoof of the Lady Gaga song "Bad Romance" called "Bathroom Dance", which is becoming so 'cyberly' viral. To the benefit of my non-Filipino readers, the parody has uber funny lyrics talking about an upset stomach from too much eating, hence "Bathroom Dance". Maybe I should try singing this for a change. LOL.

Stop Domestic Violence

Found this posted as status on one my Facebook contacts:

While you SCREAM at your woman, there's a man wishing he could talk softly to her ear. While you HUMILIATE, OFFEND and INSULT her, there's a man flirting with her and reminding her how wonderful she is. While you HURT your woman, there's a man wishing he could make love to her. While you make your woman CRY, there's a man stealing smiles from her. Post this on your wall if you're against Domestic Violence.

"Telephone" - Made in the Philippines

This is yet the best parody made by talented Filipinos on Youtube. I commend the talents behind this video who were really resourceful and the editing is awesome. This is what a parody is all about - you don't need to have the right equipments, only pure talent and skills.

This video has already been seen by some TV shows in the Philippines. Hopefully, these guys will soon be acknowledged by those in the US. They have already garnered lots of fans... and haters. LOL Those who hate are those who can't do it anyway! So to Lady Gagita & Haronce - keep on rocking!

Presenting Lady Gagita & Haronce... Only in the Philippines!!!

The SUPERHERO Collab: I'm in it! :)

I seldom do and upload videos of my own lately. Most of my recent videos on Youtube are taken from our performances. But I always love to collab videos with friends who are talented like Jason Telmo aka ChinaEyes22. This isn't the first time you've heard me mentioning his name on my website or blog, because I have already done collabs with him in the past and even would meet up with him whenever I'm back in the Philippines.

Here's a recent video collab that I'm in called The SUPERHERO Collab. Initially, we (the chosen participants) were assigned to do a super hero power and I was assigned to do the Sonic Scream. It was a last minute submission from me (as always).

And then just last week, Jason sent me a message and asked if I could lipsynch a part in the song "Cartoon Heroes" by Aqua. I was more than eager to do it. So I digged my green screen from my stuff and stuck in the wall of our bathroom where the lighting was awesome! See it for yourself!

PS: My Sonic Scream part is at 2:46. :)

My photoshoot with a local magazine

Couple of weeks ago, I got a call from a beauty writer of a local magazine, asking me to be a model for their beauty section. Who wouldn't say 'no' to it?!?! I mean, it's a magazine shoot and it will be a good exposure for me, too. So I said 'yes' and was sent some details and arranged my photoshoot with them.

Couple of weeks later, there I was, in a studio of the biggest publisher of magazines in Malaysia. I guess being punctual really shows one's professionalism but being more than punctual adds eagerness to do the job - so I arrived 20 minutes before my call time. I had to wait for the makeup artist who was having his quick lunch. But when he arrived, he spent ample of time 'beautifying' me. He used different kinds of products on me from Benefit, YvesSaintLaurent, but mostly from Chanel.

My shoot commenced right after that and finished in less than 20 minutes I guess. LOL. Although I wasn't satisfied and believe that I could have done better, they were pleased with some of the shots. And given the fact that they know what's beautiful and appropriate, it's better to leave it to the pro's. They said it will be released in July or August. Hope it's the former so I'd still be in Malaysia to be one of the firsts to see it.

Since being on the cover of MOD magazine in the Philippines as a recording artist in 1995, I consider this my first ever magazine shoot as a model. And I am hoping that this ain't the last.

PS: Almost a month ago, my friends Imelda Caday and Terry Teo had their first magazine shoot with the magazine - in the ranch. Since it was Imelda's first professional shoot, we were there to support her. And that's when I met the people from the said magazine and how it all began. :)

Update: Photos and magazine name were removed... til the issue is released. :)

My SABAT interview with the Epal boys is out!

After being featured on Yahoo! Philippines couple of months ago, I received a comment from MgaEpal.com asking me if I'd be interested in an "email interview". I thought it would be fun so I said "yes".

Few days later, they sent me the funny and crazy questionnaires and couple of months after and right in time for Mother's Day, they finally featured my answers - and their funny side comments - on their official website www.MgaEpal.com.

The greatest joy

These days can be pretty stressful, tiring, and sometimes unforgiving. And in this special day, mothers like me would rather just sit quietly and expect nothing at all. But the greatest joy is getting a simple token of appreciation from your kids. In my case, from my mini-me. She has actually spent a lot of time making this card for me - which was made out of love. And I love it!!!

Inside it read:
You are the dancing queen... Shakira... great singer. And most of all, the greatest, beautiful, and loveliest mother in the universe.

Now if you'll excuse me... I just have to dry the tears in my eyes... :)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU HOT MOMMAS OUT THERE!

Weeeee! Lotsa meeeee!

With the help of the great fashion photographer Jay Ismail, Marl aka badeedadee was able to print some of his masterpieces - FOR THE FIRST TIME! :) Love it! Wish I can hang these on our hotel room wall! :-)

Best things are yet to come

April has been a pretty busy month for us. Photo shoots, deals closed, fun gigs, and future plans being laid out. What I'm very happy about is genuine friends are giving their best moral support. It just proves that best things are yet to come.

But, May is busy and exciting, too! I am also scheduled to do 2 magazine shoots this month, among other things. Also, you can refer to my previous post regarding my recent endorsement. :)

Busy busy busy. But never neglected to stop and thank God for all the blessings! :)

I just signed up a new endorsement! :)

This might not be new to my Twitter friends since my followers usually get to hear the latest updates on me. But for the benefit of those friends who don't use Twitter or are not friends with us on Facebook, here's the latest news...

I just got signed up to be the endorser/ambassador/spokesperson of the health and beauty product - Dr. Taizé Gold Sheep Placenta Plus!
