UFO in Shanghai - fake or real?

The news circulated on Youtube like wildfire in October til November when a short clip was uploaded and it believed to be a giant UFO floating in the sky on a gloomy afternoon in Pudong, Shanghai.

Could it be a real UFO? A secret giant military aircraft we know nothing about? Or just a digitally maneuvered video clip with collections of "crowd" clips from a non-relevant clip?

The answer is the latter, friends. It's just a big hoax! The clip was made from a different clip when the French "Spiderman" climbed a skyscraper in Hongkong - it's not even in Shanghai!

Below is the video clip of the breaking news:

iPhone Guru strikes back on Thanksgiving Day

Yes, after almost a week of trying to stay out from upgrading my
iPhone, I guess I finally took the plunge to Quickpwn. My iPhone is
now upgraded to firmware 2.2 and it's a lot snappier than 2.1 when it
comes to opening apps. Now it's time to install some apps again!

Oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving to all my relatives and friends in the
U.S.!

Marl's a Mac switcher now!

Shot at the Apple Store in the Computer City in Qingdao, China. Thanks to Eva for allowing me to blog and capture a video using another unibody Macbook. :-)

Mel & Joey in Malaysia

The famous TV show called "Mel & Joey" featured Malaysia as one of their 4 destinations for their 4th year anniversary. I've watched it over the internet and I must admit that I'm proud to say that I have actually been to the places they've featured on the show.

And I'm extremely proud that 2 of the featured "successful Filipinos" in Malaysia are people that I know of. The first one was our lady boss, Cherina Vergara-Chacko, the wife of our agent John Chacko. Her entertainment agency was featured which has helped a lot of FIlipinos in securing jobs in top hotels outside of the Philippines. The interview was shot in their home. I feel so proud of Ate Cherie, who's also the godmom of our daughter Selena and who brought Selena to Malaysia for the first time when she was still 4 years old.

I also saw a couple of my friends from the Venture band being featured on the show as they perform at the Concorde Hotel KL. And my friend Anita's band was also featuring rehearsing in the studio.

Another successful Filipino featured was Princess Becky Leogardo, who has been one of our guests when we used to play at the Concorde Hotel KL in 1997 & 1998. In fact, when we started playing at the Shangri-La Hotel KL, she asked the staff to call me during one of my breaks and even introduced herself to me and asked me if I could still remember her. She's very humble despite the fact that she's one of the successful women in Malaysia and this is regardless of nationality. She managed to build a beauty empire and now she has more than 300 outlets selling her beauty products, BML, all over Malaysia.

PS: Thanks to Moises for the information about this.

California Garden Square

I'm not sure if I have blogged this before with the same title, but let me blog this again with a not-so-recent photo of California Garden Square from a distance. LOL.

We're so relieved that we have already finished paying up for our unit there at CGS. We bought it in 2005 at 2.4 million pesos, but we've learned that its market value now is already 3.2 million pesos. Well, it may not be the best investment but at least, we have an addition to our growing investments.

Our unit is loft style with 2 bedrooms and 2 toilet&bath. It's a tiny abode for cute people like us! LOL. Unfortunately, we didn't have the priviledge to stay there as we're not always in the country. But we have good tenants who are taking care of our unit (I hope) and we intend to have it rented until we're settled in Manila.

California Garden Square is located at corner Calbayog & Libertad Streets in Mandaluyong City and is very near to Boni, Shaw, Edsa and shopping places like the SM Megamall and Shangri-La Plaza.

iPhone Guru... Yes, I am!

I've been reading stuff about iPhone since it was first launched in July 2007. I managed to get myself an iPhone Classic in May 2008. Then a whole new world began.

I am a member of Philmug and an active member of Applei. Last Monday, I helped a friend restore her new iPhone Classic which she had accidentally updated via iTunes. With a little help from my friends in Applei (thanks Aws3ya!), my friend's iPhone was restored in all its glory! Well, I must account most of that to myself! Hahaha!

Last night, someone logged on to Applei in a verge of panic and anger because his cousin updated his iPhone to firmware 2.1. I was there and I tried to help. And his iPhone was restored, too, but without a signal! LOL. I was waiting for him to update me on what's happening but he seemed to have disappeared. Maybe he figured out a solution.

There you go, now I'm an iPhone guru and I will keep on helping people with their iPhone troubles. Then maybe soon, it can also be a daytime job for me! LOL

Last 6 weeks in China

As Christmas & New Year countdowns begin everywhere, we are also having our own countdown until our last day in Qingdao.

So since we've bought a lot of whatzits and gismos since we started here April 2007, we have a whole lot of things that we need to send back to the Philippines and Kuala Lumpur. To date, we've already sent out 6 boxes via China Post which have already summed up to almost 80 kgs! And there's still a lot of packing to do! Arggggh!

After playing here for exactly 18 months, our contract in Qingdao is finishing at the end of the year, and we're very excited to go back to the Philippines for a short vacation, before we enroute to Kuala Lumpur!

Suddenly Winter

It has become freezing cold here in Qingdao during the past few days. The temperature goes completely zero. But for me, it feels like it's -50! Lol.

Bad bad lobster

So I was eating my grilled salmon for dinner when I saw a commotion going on inside the beautiful aquarium of Shangri-La Qingdao's Cafe Yum. Apparently, this lobster was trying to pin the poor legless crab down. Not only legless, lifeless too. Now I see the reason why lobsters are one of the sought-after itema in the buffet! Bad bad lobster! See you for dinner tomorrow!

Marl got sick

Marl got sick for couple of days now. He must have eaten something really nasty that made him puke & visit the toilet often. Poor baby! On a lighter side, he lost 2 kgs so he's actually quite optimistic about it. Hahaha!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll have to finish my grilled salmon for dinner...

"What Do You Want" for Sony Ericsson Mobile

My friend, Bones, has sent me the song that I recorded for the demo CD that is to be submitted to Sony Ericsson. This is a catchy dance tune. You can listen to the track, "What Do You Want", on my MUSIC PAGE.

I'm a proud momma!

My princessette Selena won the 2nd place in the Grand Finals of her school's singing competition today. She sang the song from the movie/musical Dreamgirls, "And I Am Telling You". Today, she showed her trophy to me on a webcam. She looked absolutely stunning having light makeup. This is her 1st ever singing contest. I'm so proud of her!

A New Hope for America

I'd like to congratulate every American who had voted Obama to be the next President of the United States of America. And, yes you did!

I just hope beautiful changes like this can happen to the Philippines and let our country shine once again like she used to do during the reign of the late Ferdinand Marcos. We need a strong person with a strong will who will lift our country from the muddy plot that we are in right now. Someone who has a concern for the nation. Someone who's selfless like Barack Obama.

For now, I'm happy for you, America. I hope time will come when you will be able to say, "I'm happy for you, too, Philippines!".

I've been featured - sorta!

My YouTube friend, Jason a.k.a. chinaeyes22 made a special video dedicated to all his Filipino friends on YouTube. I haven't met this guy in person, but I've been a subscriber to his videos. He's one of those few non-sense people who can make a huge sense on what they're doing or what they're saying. I, for one, am one of the non-sense people who can NOT make a huge sense on what I say or do - sometimes! LOL. I'm a video blogger and I blab. But eventhough Jason blabs a lot, this guy is very talented and very creative when it comes to video production and editing. And his videos are really funny! I hope someday I can work with him and produce something non-sense that can make a huge sense, too! LOL.

This is dedicate to all Filipino YouTubers from Jason... And yes, you can find my 2 seconds of fame at frame position 1:02...

Dressed for (Halloween) Success

Our Halloween party at the Q Bar was well-attended by our regular patrons. The locals were not much into the Halloween costume thing but some were eager to have their face painted outside of the bar. Most of costume wearers were expats and/or related to expats.

We were in our black and white striped inmate costumes together
with the staff. The hood I bought in Manila with the words written "Yes, I did fall from heaven" unbelievably matched my attire. I did my hair and my makeup - all by myself! I got the reaction that I wanted, "WOW!" with a follow-up question, "Did you just cut your hair?!". LOL.

Though I didn't do my Michael Jackson bit, we managed to wow the guests with our "Thriller" dance. The staff were good, so was Jan & Marl. Yes, Marl also danced! LOL.

The whole night was an absolute fun, I had a ball. I managed to wear my Bush mask which was really funny and ugly. They find it really amazing how it actually fit my face, and how its lips could be moved as well as I speak and sing. I also used the pair of glasses which I used on my Funny Sars flix.

I didn't manage to get good video as it was really dark at the Q Bar. The video of our Thriller dance was horrible as the camera was blocked by watching guests. LOL. But of course, THE HALLOWEEN PIX ARE FINALLY HERE!!! Check it out and SIGN MY GUESTBOOK to comment!
