The end is here

This is our last day in KL. Tonight will be our last night performance at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. I have the strangest feeling that we might not be going back to KL soon. There are numbers of reason:
  1. We are signed for 6 months in Qingdao. Plus an option to extend for another 6 months or longer. Since Olympics 2008 is coming soon, guess we will be needed there.
  2. The new General Manager of Shangri-La KL wants to change the concept of the lounge & the lounge band. A piano acoustic quartet will be replacing us when we leave tomorrow. They want to try a different flavor.
  3. The unstable accomodation in Shangri-La KL during this trip has been so exhaustingly ridiculous. We have moved rooms 7 times. The recent packing for the supposed 8th time was a double purpose for us to pack our stuff for China. LOL.
  4. The Lobby Lounge in Shangri-La KL has been proposed for renovation by the end of this year. They will be bringing down the stage to floor level, move the bar somewhere.
  5. Plus lots of major issues (which I will discuss here soon)
I bet tonight will be a very special evening and lots of our friends are coming to see us. I'm sure it will be very emotional as well. Will share every detail to you. For the meantime, let me get my energizing beauty sleep. Good morning!

3 more performances

We are set to fly on Sunday morning via Beijing. Tonight will be the 3rd to the last night. Some friends would be coming tonight instead of the weekend nights.

We have almost packed everything whatever we need to pack. In fact, we already have sent most of our things via unaccompanied baggage. I hope it won't get lost and will arrive Qingdao without any delays.

I'm spending a whole lot of time with my princessette. We would usually shop in KLCC and Sungei Wang. Or just stroll in the mall and eat our favorite Auntie Anne's pretzels. Or just stay in the room. She loves to draw and create stuff through her wild imagination and writing. I think she will be a writer someday.

Hope you guys can come... Hurry, while our performances last! LOL

Upset

I'm upset. Really. Not only me, but also Jan and Marl. With only a week left after doing a great job in our stint here in Shangri-La KL for the past 6 months, we are ONCE AGAIN asked to MOVE OUT of our room. I can't find the reason why they're moving us out of the mock-up rooms where the only access to it would be behind the service lifts. I don't think they will ask their guests to pass by the service lift, being a 5-star hotel. I firmly don't believe that they will sell this room to any guests, unless they want to give that certain guest half price!

Yes, we'd be packing our stuff anyway, so what's the big deal with my whining? It is indeed a big deal! This is the 8th time that we are moving. It doesn't matter whether they just moved us around the hotel, or same floor but on different rooms. What matters is the HASSLE of packing and unpacking!!! If the management is doing this to intentionally piss us off, hey guys, it's working!

I may sound demanding or diva-ish, but I think this is not right anymore. For the whole stretch of 11 years in this career, this is the WORST EXPERIENCE we have tolerated. And this has gone far beyond our level of tolerance. Never in our entire 11 years of career. And we never gave them headache all through the 5 years we've been coming back and forth here. Why are we treated this way?!?

If EVER they would want us to come back here again, we will have to make sure that there's a statement in the contract about our PERMANENT ACCOMODATION. We don't care if they put us in an apartment or nearby lower-star hotel, as long as we don't have to endure this kind of situation.

Yes, we are living out of suitcases. But for the 8th time in 6 months?!?!??!?
Hell, I should really be upset!

1 more week to go

We still have a week to go exactly. Remember our off is on Monday. Our last night performance is on the 31st of March. Be sure to catch the URB band because we don't know whether we are coming back here again. See you guys!!!

Long hiatus

Whew!!! Being a career woman as a singer, a mother and a wife at the same time is quite taxing. At the end of day, as I lay down in bed, I would even wonder if I ever brushed my teeth before going to bed. I only got a week more to spend time with my princessette. We're flying off to China on April Fools' Day.

Behold, the princessette is here!

She travelled to KL as an unaccompanied minor via Cebu Pacific. I was still strutting up onstage by then. Nanay Susana was there at the KL LCC airport to fetch her. She arrived the hotel at 2:30AM. I'm a busy mom again! A happy mom indeed!

Delayed upload: January 2007 gallery

Since January, couldn't find time to upload and maintain my website much. First, the princessette was here. Second, we've been moving around... yeah... just around the hotel!!! LOL... So now, I've alreayd finished editing the January pics.
Princessette is coming back soon... can't wait... can't sleep!!!

Take back your money, dude!

It was indeed another great Thursday. Lounge was full, people were listening to our music and watching our performance. Halfway through our last set, a group of 3 men and a lady came and sat far from the stage, near the toilet. They called one of the waitresses, gave a note to be passed to Marl while we were singing which read:
"Merlo, I'll give you US$100, can you please stop singing?"

Now if I was the one who got it, I would have read it loud and clear to the listening crowd. I would have pointed to their table for people to know who they are.

I don't know what their purpose was in doing that. To me, it sounds more like an insult. I don't even care whether they're at the lounge to have a meeting. They know that there's a band playing and they don't even make the 4% of the people at the lounge who were enjoying our music.

Dude, your US$100 won't even be enough to pay for your own bill! So just take back your money and shove it up your a$$!

Bruised and unenergetic

It was a great night for Tueday, lounge was full. I wasn't in my element though. I felt like I had an indigestion and out of nowhere, my body felt so... ahmm out of control. I mean, for me to be able to move flawlessly, I have to control my body muscles for me to be execute each movement, however little. But tonight, I felt lethargic and a bit "drunk", though I didn't touch any alcohol at all. My eyes have been acting up, making me feel dizzy. Also there was a problem with my hearing. It was like having some water in my ears!

By the way, I noticed a big bruise on my inner right thigh, few inches from my groin. It's oval and measures approx. 1.5 x 2 inches. It shocked me as I couldn't remember something that hit me hard on Sunday or Monday on my thigh. By looking at it, it must have been a pretty hard hit. But it's not painful at all even if you press it hard. I am guessing I might have hit myself with my microphone as I always do. But this time, it might have been hard. In fact so hard, that I wasn't able to notice it! LOL Hope it's nothing serious or health related stuff.

I was talking to some friends tonight. Met a friend from Suria FM (Emran) and company. The Norwegian guys from October last year were also here and there was someone missing from the pack... Khalil, where are you?!?

Good mawnin...

It's 7:30AM and I'm still awake. I watched 7 episodes of the 3rd season of the my fave TV series "Lost". Just managed to get the videos so basically my eyes are now strained from watching. I've been hooked to it since its 1st season.

By the way, my princessette is coming back to town. It will be a fun reunion this weekend!!!

It's my off but who cares? Even Care Bears don't care! LOL. Oh well, gotta wash my face now. Yeah, I'm still wearing the makeup I put on 12 hours ago!!! Good mawnin' everyone...

Mock-up room

I have been focused on complaining about moving rooms around the hotel that I forgot to mention that we were put in a mock-up room. Which is really cool!!! It's a room they have designed and decorated as one of the proposed room to be chosen for approval when they do the renovation soon. So that means, the furnitures in this room that we are in right now are new and we are one of the first ones to try it. I love the finishing of the furnitures, the flat screen Plasma TV on the wall, the modern lighting, the bathroom fixtures and my new throne - a settee.

But we noticed that the floor is always warm. We asked around with the engineering and housekeeper and we found the reason why. Our room is just above the sauna and steam rooms of the male locker in the Health Club!

So guys, beware.

With all the movings we had to do, I might just get crazy and dig a hole up here to see some itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny... whatchamacalit?!! Oh yeah, thingy. Down under. LOL.

Health & wealth

''It's bad mathematics that we spend
half of our health to gain wealth,
and spend half of our wealth
to gain back the health''

Kinda true. And I'm a living testimony. Not that I'm saying I'm wealthy. Not yet. But it's coming... *crosses fingers & knocks on wood* ...

3 more weeks in KL

Time does fly so fast. Can't believe that we are on our last month performance here at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. Where will we be going after this? Shangri-La Qingdao in China. Yeah, I know...

Can't think of any title for this anymore!

I have run out of titles for blog entries like this. I might have used the title more than twice and as much as I can, I don't want to repeat titles because I want each of my blog to be different.

BUT HELL... WE'RE MOVING AGAIN!

I don't know what has happened to the management this time around. We have been sent packing for the 7th time now and yet I know that eventhough we are on our last month, this won't be the last time that we're moving.

Which reminds me to wrap up this useless information and start packing... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
