Quiet Monday

I woke up feeling refreshed today. I had a good sleep, that's why. We practised in the afternoon and I sang some broadway tunes in the shower. It was quiet night at work. It got even worse when we came back for our 3rd set, most of the tables called out for their bills. But it got pretty exciting when we were counting people in the crowd and smiling when they get up and leave. Our friends, Ayeth and Danny, who currently plays in Suzhou came to see us for a while. Our last set was great because we played most of our favorite love songs and there were only 2 people listening to us! It's certainly the quietest evening we've ever had in Shanghai... so far...

BATS day on a Sunday

What I missed most about Shanghai were the good party times I've had with the friends I've had and friends I've met during our previous contracts in Shanghai. Especially last 2001 when almost all the bands knew each other and we were really close at that time. There were never ending parties, bowling sessions, drinking sessions, and even mahjong sessions for our small-time gamblers!

Tonight was another great night. Not because we played at the BATS, but because we were visited by some of the Filipino band friends that we have in Shanghai. It wasn't that crazy like those good ol' times in 2001, but I was really glad that they came to listen to us and watch us.

I'm planning to post the old party pics that I still have. I guess, you would agree with me once you see them, so keep on visiting my site for updates!

Sunday afternoon

Woke up at 3PM. Made my coffee and prepared myself. I also prepared my laundry & drycleaning items to be sent. I guess that instead of Monday, we'll have to move our laundry day on Sundays because we always have to go to the hotel on Sundays for soundcheck at the BATS.

When we reached the hotel, Brice and I was directed to the new wing where they moved the staff laundry. She went to BATS and I went to the mall to buy foodstuff. I followed them to BATS for the soundcheck, they were almost done.

Now I'm back here at home, trying to print my lyrics for tonight. I left all my fast song lyics in KL. Been trying to be a hero for the past 3 Sundays, but sometimes I'd forget some of the lyrics of my song. Oh well, what's gonna happen tonight at the BATS?

Wired broadband better

I think the wired broadband internet is much better and much faster than the wireless thang. So... I have switched back to the broadband cable. Anyway, the office and bedrooms are the only places where I want to use my computer. Was just kinda excited earlier about being wireless, hahaha! Gotta go to sleep now. Kinda feeling dizzy now... Ho-hummmmm.. Good morning!

Wirelessly blogging

Our Filipino friend in Shanghai has lent his wireless broadband router to us. It took me quite a few hours to configure it because he didn't give me any manual at all. Good that my friend in US went online on her SidekickII just to help me configure it (it's Saturday there and she didn't have work so can't use her work PC). So now, I'm trying out the wireless freedom of surfing the net...

Fun Saturday

Got up at 4PM, thankful that Brice woke me up because we'll be late for our appointment with our friend who's hosting a dinner at his apartment. Marlou was still out, having his haircut. I had a shower then Brice and I walked our way to the Yanlord Apartments which is just 2 blocks away from our place. When we arrived there, 2 bands were already there. Marlou arrived after a few minutes. We chatted while waiting for dinner to be ready. Couple more friends arrived when we were having our dinner. We left at 7PM and we walked back home. When we reached home, we rushed to prepare for work. Left for work at 8PM.

It was just a normal Saturday night, audience was great. More on musical pieces tonight. Just spent time at home after work.

Good rest

Just woke up 30 minutes ago. I had a very good sleep, I guess it's the best sleep I had in 2 weeks. We've been very busy with packing and unpacking stuff, always moving around! Settling down at a new place, then they'd ask us to pack again.

In relation to that, we got a call at 10AM today. Some Chinese guy speaking Chinese couple of times in the middle of my sleep. So I think the only phrases I'd always say and repeat are "Tim pu tong" which means "I don't understand" and "English", asking the other party to speak in English. I don't think he got it when I said those phrases coz he kept on calling. The last time he called was accompanied with door bells already. Marlou got up and opened the door. It's the owner of the apartment!!! I heard them having some discussions.

On the face ot it, even though he has a contract with the Shangri-La, he got shocked that somebody else is staying in his apartment. The last person who stayed here was a hotel executive, think he's a director of sales or marketing department. And of course, he'd be shock to see 3 beautiful people in replacement of a maybe old guy! Hahaha!

Hopefully, he won't terminate his contract with the hotel and ask us to move to another place again... Keeping our fingers and toes crossed... Gotta prepare now, we have an early dinner with a friend...

Bargain queen strikes back!

At 3PM, I was still lying lazily in bed, I even put my alarm clock on snooze. It's the first day of my cycle and I've been feeling so lazy. But I had to get up and take a shower because I need to get the dresses from my tailor and also, buy a pair of boots and maybe a black slacks/pants if I see one. I asked Brice a favor to get my laundry from the hotel so that we couldsave time. We left the house at 4PM, took a cab, Brice dropped me off at the ferry station. I crossed the river aboard a ferry, took another cab and went to my tailor to pick up the dresses. I didn't even fit them anymore. So I took the same cab and went to Chi Pu Lu market. It was already 5PM when I got there and most of the shops were already closing. Luckily I was able to buy me a pair of black slacks and black boots (at last) for only RMB40!!! It's just less than US$5, can you imagine?!? Well, it's not an original leather boots and the original price was RMB80 and I was able to use my irresistible charms to get it at a price halfway down. I also bought a small Bally bag for RMB30, good for work.

I was done by 5:45PM and I was having a difficulty trying to get a cab. Everyone was going back and was hailing for empty cabs. I crossed the street and waited on both sides, I was even in the middle of the street, almost hit by a big bus because I was running after an empty cab! I was feeling kinda bit hopeless fighting my way to get a cab. Then at 6:30PM, a cab stopped right infront of me, dropped its passenger, and I almost jumped inside the cab without opening the door! I was so thankful and tired. I reached home without any difficulty at all. I was just in time to prepare for work. I fitted all the dresses, they were all good. I fitted the black slacks I just bought, and although its size is medium, it was so tight that I can't even fit on my hips!!! Hmmm, too tired to go back there anytime this week. Maybe can give it as a present for anyone who might be needing it. Or maybe Brice will fit in it.

Left home at 7:30PM, had dinner at the hotel and started working at 8:30PM. It was a good night. We had an NBA basketball player in the crowd, Desmond Macy, and I had a chance to take a photo with him. On our last set, people danced in the lobby lounge, most of them dancing were from South Africa and they liked all the reggae, so we played a bit reggae in a soft level.

After work, got my food and then we went back home. I edited some pics, replied some mails, and updated my blog. I've been wondering why I haven't had much hits on MY ONLINE PICS section, but having lots of hits on MY BLOG. But it's somehow flattering that people are reading more of me rather than seeing more of me. Just like me, buying a Chinese mag and "reading" just pics! LOL

Nice weather on a Wednesday

Woke up at 3PM, went straight to the kitchen and boiled some water for my coffee. Brice had her food as well while we were chatting about my classical voice. I even let her hear the song "Phantom of the Opera" that I have recorded 10 years ago, she couldn't even believe that it was me. I must admit that I feel kinda depressed whenever I hear my own voice in recordings before. It took a lot of discipline and hard work for me to have that voice, I mean my classical voice. I sometimes use it in my Sarah Brightman or Charlotte Church songs right now but the quality isn't just the same with my voice before. But I'm quite thankful for having what I have right now because it has helped me a lot. But of course, it's just normal to regret sometimes, especially on things that you used to have before but have lost it.

As I was having my coffee with Brice and eating my biscuit. I was chewing slowly and I felt a hard thing. Thought it was included in the biscuit and knowing myself, not so sensitive and fussy with stuff, so I continued chewing the hard thing, even crushing it with my own teeth. Then I realized that my left front tooth bccame a bit sensitive! OH MY GOD!!! I swallowed my own tooth! Oh well, just a part of it!! Hahahaha! Will take a photo of it soon and will try to show you all my cavities, hahaha! I'm still trying to find a nailfile to unsharpen it.

Brice and I left at 4:30PM and went to our tailor. He managed to finished the 6 dresses (3 each for both of us), but had to repair 2 of them because they were tight. We also bought some lacy thing to attach to one of the dresses. So we just got 2 dresses today. My tailor is really good. He has made lots of dresses for me already and I'm satisfied with his creation. Even Brice loved his job. We walked past some shops when we were trying to get a cab. Went back home at past 6PM.

We left for work at 7:40PM, had our dinner as usual and started to work on time. Crowd tonight was great again. Same bunch of guests we had since the last weekend. D'Zone's Marcial came and waited for us until we finished our set. He came back home with us, we had supper at home. I went online around 3AM after finishing tallying the taxi fare computation. I've spent a lot on our transportation and the hotel hasn't reimbursed our taxi fares yet so don't have much budget to shop! Grrrrrr!

Oh I still have to find for my nailfile...

going to bed...

hmmm the sun is shining outside my window... brice is already asleep, marlou is still in his computer and i'm almost retiring to bed... hope you have a nice wednesday!!!

Quiet Tuesday

Woke up at 2PM. Made my coffee, edited some pictures, replied some mails. Had my shower at 4PM, then Brice and I went for a walk in the neighborhood. There are lots of department stores/malls around our area: Next Age, Times Square and the new International Shopping Centre. I also rediscovered that the new tunnel going to the other side of Shanghai, Puxi, is on the same street where we live. There are lots of commercial shops near Summit Panorama. What I was quite thankful to know that we have it near us is Watsons at the International Shopping Centre. We went to NextAge to look for an internet cafe. My friend Dang told me that there is an internet cafe there but we have already reached the 9th floor of NextAge, we didn't find any internet cafe shops. I bought a hair dryer and my contact lenses solution, then went back home.

Prepared for work at 6:30PM and left the house 8:45PM. It took us around 5 minutes to get a cab. Had our dinner and started working at 8:30PM. Tonight's crowd was great, so we grooved with grace as we entertained them with our songs. Last set was good too, we've got guests from South Africa and they made our night more enjoyable. After set, one of them approached us if they can get us some drinks. Since we're already finished with our job, I guess it's alright with the management to have a drink. Oh my God... I had my first alcoholic drink tonight - red wine - since we got in Shanghai! Wooohooo!!! We went back home and ate supper. Then edited more pics before going online.

Monday May 23

Woke up at 2PM. Boiled some water for my coffee as I fixed the bed. Put all my laundry in the laundry bag, it's laundry day! Brice woke up at 3:30PM so we left at almost 4PM. Dropped and picked up our laundry, Brice had her late lunch, I went to the supermarket to buy some things. We went back home at 5PM. Internet guys came to fix our broadband access. But only the LAN outlet in Marlou's office room is working, so I have to move myself there... only when I do my internet thang.

We left for work at 7:30PM, had our dinner and started our work right on time at 8:30PM. Lobby lounge was okay, people appreciating our music until we finished our set. There were friends from KL who came on our last set so I chatted with them for a while. We went back home at 12:45AM.

Sunday May 22

Woke up at past 2 in the afternoon. I went straight to the shower because my scalp had been feeling itchy because of the hairspray that I use almost every night. When I finished, the house agent came again to help us with the other things. After she had left, the China Telecom guy came to check our broadband internet. All the LAN outlets all over the house (living room, kitchen, office room and 2 bedrooms... no, there's no LAN outlet in the toilets, I checked it! LOL) can access broadband internet. But the problem is we don't have the account so hopefully they can get back to us right away because time is gold. Especially now that we have just moved in and there's another possibility that they will ask us to move to the hotel when the new tower of Shangri-La Hotel opens at the end of June. Although staying in the hotel is more convenient for us, we'd be more than eager to stay in our present apartment.

We left the apartment at 3:45PM for our BATS soundcheck. Brice went to have her late lunch while I buy some things from the supermarket. Marlou was the only who went to BATS, we don't need to soundcheck actually because he knows the controls already, unless the soundman messed it up the night before. We went back to the apartment and then took a rest. I sewed my blank pants' hem because it's too long and at the the end of the night, all the dust on the stage would accumulate on the hem of my pants. I also double checked the "black hole" part, where it ventilated my private parts during our first BATS performance LOL.

Left the apartment at 8:50PM, reached the hotel. Had a dinner and went to BATS 5 minutes before our set. Saw Bebot (ex-Hotshots drummer) who came to see us for a while. The bar was filled with foreign guests, and of course, those Chinese tarts eyeing for their prey for the night. After our first set, talked to some friends. Nini of D'Zone band came to see us for a while. while we were playing the second set, I saw a familiar face. My friend Emelda of the Beat Culture Band, who was one of the closest friends I've made during my traveling years especially in China, came in to the bar, behind her video camera! She came with their new male singer Leo. We chatted during our breaks. It's been 3-4 years since I've last seen her. She used to be my drinking partner then and my close friend, until now.

After work, we have decided to go to a birthday party of a female singer. But we had to go back to the apartment to change so Dang & Leo came back with us. We took some photos, Dang loved the apartment. We left at around 2PM and crossed the tunnel going to Puxi side. When we arrived at the party, I was shocked to see some of my old friends & other familiar faces. Some of them I met in Malaysia and one of them in HK, but most them were old friends here in Shanghai. My party soul started to kick in, felt like I was the party hostess for the night aside from the birthday girl of course. She was soooo funny and entertaining, kept us laughing until 5AM. There was a time security knocked and brought a police who asked us to minimize the noise. I lost my voice laughing and talking loudly. So I wasn't talking at all in the taxi as we went back home.

Slept at 6AM, didn't have to go online.

Boring Saturday

My website updated with new pictures!!! Check it out!

Woke up at 2PM, the repersentative from the agency came to answer our questions regarding the apartment. She also taught us how to use the remote controls and where to plug whichever adaptor we may need to use at the moment. The rest of the afternoon was just bumming around the place. I was just in the room most of the time, want to spend some quiet time... not really quiet because I've got music on my laptop. Just need to think about things. Today was my seriously pondering moment.

We went to work at 7:30PM, had our dinner as usual. The restaurant was so busy that they had to relocate us from our usual table. At work it was okay, not so boring because at least few people were still appreciating our songs. But during the last set, we wondered where people have gone.

After work, we went home straight and ate our supper. Our old friend Jun (ex-Straightline frontliner) came to visit us. He liked our apartment so much. We talked and laughed until past 5 in the morning. It's already 5:30AM. Need to catch some good rest for tonight's gig at the BATS! Good morning!

Our 1st day at the Summit Panorama

We got up at 11:30AM to move out all our luggages from our apartment. I went down to check-out from the reception and retrieve my RMB200 deposit I gave during check-in. We waited for the hotel's Human Resources guy to pick us up, but he arrived just by himself without the hotel van. We called for 3 cabs and loaded our things and left for our new apartment. We were told that it's a lot better than the Pent-Ox apartment.

The Summit Panorama is much nearer to Shangri-La Hotel and just a block away from the riverside road. We can see the river from our room and terrace/balcony but there are lots of constructions around the area. Lots of new buildings being constructed. Shanghai, particularly Pudong, is really booming and the pace is sooo fast.

So we reached the Summit Panorama and unloaded our things from the 3 cabs. The HR guy gave us our keys to our new apartment. It's very secured and the place is really classy. There are only 3 units per floor. When I entered our unit, I was amazed and astonished. I asked the guy if we're really staying there. The design is modernized and the furnitures match the design of the whole unit. The theme is wood of dark brown, flesh and beige color, and transparent glasses and mirrors all over the place. The lightings add a modern touch. The kitchen is really nice with all the hi-tech stuff we don't even know how to use -- most of them in Chinese characters. We'd rely on the drawings. Funny thing is the fridge because we don't know how to use its water and ice dispenser. Everything's in Chinese! The stove is electric and is built-in with the kitchen counter. I guess if I'm drunk, I'd stay out of the kitchen unless I'd like to burn my face and would rather choose to pass out on the kitchen counter!

There are 3 rooms: an office room, a smaller bedroom and the best part of the unit -- the master's bedroom. The bathroom and toilet in the master's is behind a transparent glass so I can be seen either if I'm in the bedroom or if I'm inside the bathroom. It's really nicely designed. The transparent bathroom is great especially if you close all the lights and just leave the colored bulbs lighting the bathroom, really sexy! But it's such a turn-off if I'd do my dirty business in the toilet and I could be seen doing that! The bathroom fixtures are really modern too. The toilet bowl looks more like a covered trash can. The ceramic sink is on top of a glass table (with the piping underneath) which makes it look like a big salad bowl! The shower are quite complicated, luckily there are drawings on it & no chinese characters in there. The cordless phone took a while for us to get it working, because it's in Chinese as well. All the remote controls of the air conditioning units and televisions are all in Chinese as well so we would just give it a trial and error kind of effort.

Brice and I went to the mall to buy some stuff (toiletries, cleaning tools, etc) for our new apartment. We also had to buy bottled waters, which were really really heavy! We took a cab and went back to the apartment at 5PM. Fixed, unpacked a bit and then prepared for work. It was boring at work and we didn't order any supper, we have a lot of food stock at home which will be expiring soon we just finished it off. I unpacked and fix our room. I positioned my pc by the window in the master's so I'm facing the room and have the windows beside and behind me, still can enjoy the views -- of the constructions going on and of course, vehicles passing by.

There is still no broadband access in the unit, but we were told that there used to be a broadband access here. So have to rely on dial-up at the moment. Hopefully the agency representative will come to our apartment tomorrow afternoon to explain us how to get things working.

Summit Panorama

Goshhhh! Our new apartment is really beautiful. We're quite thankful that we were asked to move here because it's actually a high-class apartment. Although we're gonna miss the cleaning ladies at the Pent-Ox who screams every day one they get in the apartment. We're staying at the 15th floor, overlooking the pier & the bund. It's a block away from the riverside road and it's much nearer to the hotel. It's also a block away from the malls Yaohan & Times Square & the computer building (very important!!!). The only down thing is we can't get the broadband working! Gonna tell you about it later because I'm just waiting for my other 2 colleagues to finish preparing. Took some pics too!

Checking out again

Hmmm... This is a very bad day for all of us. We're moving out of Pent-Ox, we've already accustomed ourselves to the apartment to the surroundings, to the... I guess that's all. Yeah, we already know how to budget our time somehow and Brice has already got the right Chinese intonation to Pent-Ox "Wu Niu Chen". Checking out now!!! Ciao!

Post for Wednesday May 18

We woke up at 1PM, housekeeping came to clean the unit. She finished cleaning the unit at almost 2PM. I called my favorite tailor to check if it's still his number. I was so happy when he remembered me eventhough I only said "Sarita! Philippine!" LOL. Oh, that's how I'd usually talk to him with matching sign language & kungfu moves LOL.

While Marlou went to Xiangyang Market to buy his new trolley bag for work, Brice and I went to the silk market to buy some cloth. We need to have more gowns made so we won't have to wear black all the time. We managed to buy 3 different materials, dark coloured ones, not black. We walked to my tailor's shop, which took us around 15 minutes. Luckily the weather wasn't hot or cold. Brice had her measurements taken first before me. We gave our designs to our tailor and left. We took a taxi and wanted to go back to the ferry station where we got off. But I forgot how to say it, so I called my Chinese friend to help me tell the driver. But the driver sent us to the wrong ferry station, I don't even know where the ferries are going. So after a few arguments, me speaking in Tagalog or English and the driver speaking in Chinese, we finally met halfway to send us straight to Pudong, luckily the new tunnel was just around the corner. We got off at the computer building and bought a new Canon printer, not the portable kind. My old Canon portable printer has a problem with it's printer head and it was difficult looking for a new printer head. And also, the price of a new printer head is almost the same price of a new non-portable printer. Besides, I can it to Manila for my brothers to use for their school projects and researches.

We went to work at 7:30PM, had dinner as usual. I'm loving the salmon sushi that I'd usually take almost everything in the Jap corner of the dinner buffet! It was busy at the lounge, but more on people busy talking or having a meeting.

Tues, 5/17 -

We were just at home the whole afternoon. Doing things work-related, that's what we have agreed upon. In the afternoons, we'll have to do work-related stuff so that it will be fair for everyone and we have moved our practice schedule to afternoon. I'm not fully forbidden to go online in the afternoons but I can check email for a while then go back to work. I'm usually tasked to do the lyrics for the group and research/download songs from the net. After work is supposed to be our time to relax and unwind, only then I can unwind myself and go online to do my stuff.

We left for work at 7:30PM, had our dinner. Since it's just Tuesday and Tuesdays are so slow, we wore something short but elegant tonight. After our first set, I saw our hotel GM in the lobby and he said that we should go and change because our dress is not suitable. Maybe he had a point, maybe he doesn't want us to wear short dresses in the lounge, even they look classy. And maybe he forgot that we already moved to the apartment and not staying conveniently in the hotel anymore. Soooo... we didn't know what to do. If we don't go back and change and then if he sees us again, we'd get scolded by him. So Marlou played for our 2nd set alone... for the first time... while Brice and I walked out of the hotel. We were so shocked to see lots of people waiting for taxi, the queue was soooo long! There's something wrong in the new building of Shang that they closed all the roads on and leading to that area, maybe construction trouble or something. So how the hell can we to find a taxi at that moment and come back to the hotel to sing again? We begged the bellboys to help us. One bell boy accompanied us walking outside the street, in my stiletto shoes and mini dress! I didn't care if everyone on the street were looking at us because I was in a verge of panicking, lengthening my neck to see if there's any taxi coming. But since the roads were all closed, we couldn't find any taxi. Saved by the bell, or bellboy, he saw the hotel limousine driver on a Mercedes Benz limousine. He asked the driver that we were sent back home by the GM to change into our long gowns.

Yes!!! The driver agreed to drive us back to the apartment. When we got into the lift, there's a Chinese guy with us. When we reached our floor, we went out of the lift and swiped the keycard. We couldn't open the door! We forgot that we always have to extend our key everyday in the reception at the apartment lobby. So we went back to the lift. We were surprised that the Chinese guy was on our floor. Either he might have gone out of the lift to follow us or he might have thought that it's his floor too. Or maybe he doesn't live in the building. Then he was looking at both of us, asked us where we are from and if we we in the building (or on that floor) to visit some guy. He thought we were "service girls"!!! Oh my goooood! I was thinking what's taking the lift too long to get on our floor, I was so insulted and irritated. I don't think Brice got what the guy just asked us, so she innocently continued and said no and that we live in the building. He was taken aback and asked us what our jobs are. And at last, our lift arrived and luckily he didn't follow us again. In the lift, I explained to Brice what the guy just asked us and what he first thought we were. Brice suddenly got it at last and wanted to go back and tell the guy off! Hahaha! So we extended our keycard and went back to our unit and changed. It took us only less than 3 minutes to slip into our long black gowns!
(Note: if there's nothing "much" underneath, it's easier to dress up! LOL)

Our driver waited for about 10 minutes because of the damn keycard! So we went back to the hotel. Brice and I were enjoying ourselves inside the limousine, innocently pushing some of the lit buttons while interviewing our Chinese driver, LOL! We were laughing about the Chinese guy on our floor who thought that we are floozies! I can't believe that it took us one whole 45-minute set to get back to the apartment. We got into the hotel and hid near the toilet because Marlou was singing his last song for the second set. So as soon as he finished singing, we congratulated him for a good job done and we excitedly told him non-stop what happened within the past 45 minutes.

After work, we went back to the apartment. I had lots of things to do so I tried to do them all one by one while chatting at the same time! LOL

Rainy days and Mondays

It was raining today. Woke up at 2:45PM, did my "wake-up" rituals and beauty stuff. Brice and I left to drop our laundry to the hotel, as well as pick up the ones we sent last Saturday. She had her late lunch, I went to the mall to stroll around. I saw my favorite shoes shop Sketchers and I saw some of the shoes that I like. Hmm, Christina Aguilera is their image model at the moment, before it was Britney Spears. But I still like Sketchers! I also saw a nice casual dress but have to save up for it. Went back to the hotel to meet up with Brice and went back to the apartment.

We left for work at 7:30PM and had our dinner. It was really quiet at work. Couple of my old friends came to see us, Lori and Al. They stayed for 2 sets. They invited us to go to Malones Bar after work, because of it's reopening night. Shanghai's best foreign band Art6 is back in Malones. I thought we could go after our set. But I received an SMS from my boss that he'll be coming over to see us, so couldn't go to see my old friends. Our boss came just before we ended our last set. Changed my Malaysian Ringgit Dollars to Chinese Renminbi. At least, I could save my US Dollars!

Marl and I went with him in his apartment. He's got really nice and spacious apartment. Really worth it's heap price! What I like most about it is the toilet genie. It's a bidet machine of buttons that can wash your genitals and anal stuff (Hahaha, I can't believe I wrote that! Hahaha!). The best thing I like about it is it's dryer! Hahaha! That's the reason why I spent most of the time in the toilet for the 5 hours we were there! Some of the musicians came, all of them were guys. They had a meeting and I just listened. I got a bit bored and didn't want to meddle in their business so I just spent time watching music video channels on my boss' cable. Went back to the apartment at 6AM. Very tired now. Hafta go to sleep! Ciao!

Post about Sunday BATS gig

Sunday: We went to the hotel at 3:30PM. Brice had her lunch while I bought some stuff in the mall. Was done by 4:20PM so I went back to the hotel. Did a bit of a soundcheck, done by 5PM. Went back to the apartment to rest for a while. I checked emails and replied to some. We left the house at 8:45PM, just in time for a fast dinner in the hotel.

We started at 9:30PM. It was more relaxed and better than the past Sunday. We've got lots of guests, some of them maybe listening and some of them maybe not. But we did our stuff "URB-ly". By the end of the night, people were glued to us when we did lots of fast songs.

I took some photos on that night which I will be including on my photo site as soon as I finish editing them.

Posting from my mail

I'm trying the blog posting feature from my mail. Hope this works. It'll be a lot convenient with a lot of ways to blog. Hmmm, didn't have much time to blog today. Will blog tomorrow about our BATS gig last night. Hmm it's 5:30AM now and I'm going to sleep. Very tired!

Dark skies

It's 2:47PM. Thanks no call from the Pent-Ox management to ask us if we're checking out today. But housekeeping called and asked if we want our rooms to be cleaned. Since I was half-asllept-half-awaken, I told them to clean the unit tomorrow instead.

The skies are dark and I think it'll rain today again. It's our B.A.T.S. day. So I hit the shower as soon as I woke up because we will be leaving the house at 3:15PM for a soundcheck in the hotel. Oh, this is the day that I'm looking forward to every week. It's fun playing different kind of music at the lobby, more relaxed and my voice is not strained at all. Even when I talk on stage, I don't have to sound so lively than I usually do because people usually would like to read a book, chat with their friends, and doze off while we sing lullabies!

Hmm, this blog is really getting more exciting. I get lots of hits every day! Wooohooo! Way to go, Sarita!

Freezingday...

It was really freezing today. We went to the hotel to drop our laundry. They have schedule time for drop & pick up at 3:30-4:30PM everyday. They're very strict about it. We also talked to the hote management because the management in Pent-Ox wanted us to check-out tomorrow at 12PM. We got kinda confused because the Pent-Ox might have thought that we are supposed to check out on Friday, meaning, today is already an extension, until tomorrow. Hopefully, they won't call us again in the middle of our sleep to ask whether we're checking out or extending our stay.

Marlou and I went to the supermarket to buy some food stuff and some needed stuff at home. Afterwards, I went to the computer building, while the two of them waited for any developments. They couldn't go back to the apartment because Pent-Ox didn't even want to extend the key for us to use to get into the unit... our things are all inside there anyway! I went to the computer building, bought my network cable and a new microphone headset for voice chatting. I couldn't find a printer head for my BJC80 printer. Damn!

We went to work at 7:15PM, it was still drizzling and I only had my shawl to cover my head and my body. Had our dinner and relaxed afterwards. It was a quiet evening at the lounge, but it was okay. hey laid the red carpet just before we began our 3rd set because a Singaporean VIP (maybe politician) arrived.

After work, we were anticipating that there would be something wrong with the key. We were even betting, but no problem with it! I went to the room and fixed my stuff. After removing my makeup, I did my Pilates workout on the bed. The mattress is quite firm so I thought I could do my workout there. After my workout I opened up my luggage and got confused on how to arrange all my clothes! I hanged some of my clothes in the closet.

I only went online at 2:30AM, chatted a bit, replied some mails. Tomorrow is B.A.T.S. day so have to take my beauty rest now. Hi, Beautiful Sunday!

Raindrops keep falling on my head

It's raining today. I'm using the free internet at the lobby of the apartment, while waiting for Marlou. This is where usually Brice checks her mails. We're going to the hotel to send our laundry then to the supermarket in the mall to buy some stuff. I've got my long shopping list with me. I need to run to the computer building too. And it's raining!

Friday the 13th of May

I was so elated today. I chatted with Selena today. We were voice chatting in Yahoo and they could me see me on my webcam. Whenever we chat, we'd use the IMvironment "Doodle" and she can write and draw on the screen. She wrote "I Love You Mommy" and "I Miss You Mommy" and I was so touched. Not that it's her first time to write those words, but I've been missing her a lot since I left her in Manila at the end of March. When she came to KL in October last year, it the longest time I ever spent with her (6 months in total). And I've been missing her so much.

Anyway, Selena said she had her entrance exams for Prep (Preparatory Level). She's going to Paco Catholic School this June when school-year 2005-2006 begins. She has already bought her school. She's really excited and looking forward to go to school. She's really smart and the one who took her exams told my mom that Selena is really a smart girl. Selena bragged that the exams were easy and she didn't make any mistakes. That's my girl!

When I was chatting with her in Yahoo, I was laughing so hard when I hit CTRL+G - the "buzz" feature. It supposed to shake the chat window. Then she told me, "Mommy, you just made an earthquake!", hahaha!

Left Pent-Ox at 7:30PM. It was freezing outside because it was drizzling. Usually it would be hard to get a cab when it rains, not only in Shanghai, but anywhere. But we're lucky because there was a taxi who sent a passenger to our building. Since it was jammed at the hotel entrance, we just asked the cab to stop at the staff entrance which was a bit flooded. Imagine, me in my long gown (backless as usual) and nice stiletto heels, running under the light rain! And it was really freezing, I only had my thin see-thru shawl to wrap me. By the time we got to the restaurant of the hotel, I was really shivering but I was still all smiling and poised of course!

It was a great night at work. I saw most of our guests that we've had the whole week, most of them for the conference being held at the Shangri-La for a week. There's this particular young guy who I haven't spoken to at all but have seen him around. On our 3rd set, he left the lounge with his friends. I was surprised when he came back and was heading the stage. He gave me a piece of paper, thought it was a request. It said:

I may not be able to see you after tonight. I just want you to know that I love your voice and I think that you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Enjoy your further stay. Niltsan
It flattered me of course. I find it sweet and very very humbling. I wanted to thank him, but he was already gone. Most of the guys from the conference are leaving tomorrow so I guess, we'll have another set of guests from tomorrow. I promised one of our guests from that conference, Gary of California, that I will mention him in my blog for today. He's the one I was making fun of during our last set. So I owed him special mentioning, I guess! Hahahaha! He promised that he will check my blog... Gary, are you reading these lines??? LOL

I'm using dialup right now because my network cable gave up. Couple of the pins collapsed that's why it can't be detected by either the router or LAN port on my laptop. Anyway, gotta go to sleep now. Another long day tomorrow. Tah-tah!

Gloomy weather

I was in my zizz at 2PM... when 2 girls frm housekeeping barged in the unit, calling out in Chinese, checking if anybody was in or maybe asking if we want our unit to be cleaned. Who wouldn't be awaken by that? I thought there was some kind of emergency! And how would I know what they were shouting about, I only have handful Chinese phrases and most of them are phrases that I use when I shop! Hahaha!

So anyway, I didn't get out of the bed, Marlou just let them clean the living room and toilets. Then one of them opened the light in my room, thinking that there was no one on the bed -- I couldn't breathe and felt like suffocated, then I realized I was under the blanket! Hahaha! But she turned it off again and apologized. I didn't get up to have my coffee until 3PM.

Hmmm, Chinese people. Even when they talk, they sound like they're arguing that will definitely catch anyone's attention. Oh, and in a market or small shops, you can see the customer arguing with the shopkeeper. It's either the customer wants to return the gooods or customer/shopkeeper is rude to the other.

They're busybodies too. When I try to haggle and bargain prices way down low, other people would watch and laugh as I give my ridiculous prices until the shopkeeper gives in or until I meet halfway with the shopkeeper. There was one time when I had my "small audience" following me around the shops! Hahaha!

I was planning to go out today to buy black slacks for our Sunday gig. My black pants bore a hole while I was dancing last Sunday because the material wasn't really stretchable. And my buttcrack showed whenever I bent over or even when I simply moved my hips! Have to change it! Hopefully tomorrow is a better day so I can send out my laundry to the hotel and shop for some needed stuff. There are no hangers here and the closet in our room is just enough for Marlo's suits. I had to put 5 dresses in a hanger to fit everything. So have to buy a lot of things tomorrow.

Hopefully our boss gets here on Saturday. I've got Malaysian Ringgits, want to change them to Chinese Yuan. So it'll save me from changing my US Dollars. Till later!

Long day

We left the apartment at 4:10PM. We were in our civilian clothing, we just brought our gown, shoes & other stuff. When we got to the hotel, Marl went straight to the ballroom to setup our equipments while Brice and I went straight to the restaurant to order our late lunch, I ordered spaghetti bolognese. After securing my order, I ran to the mall to buy some of my favorite snack at the moment, Pretz, that I usually eat when I feel like eating and I have nothing to do! LOL

Ater 30 minutes, I went back to the hotel and I was just in time because our orders just arrived. Marlou forgot a cable so he went back to the apartment. That's the difficult thing about living outside, especially for me, who would always forget something in the room. So I always have to worry everytime we leave the apartment from now on. In fact, there was something I forgot to bring - my shawl.

15 minutes before 6PM, Brice and I went to the toilet and changed into our gowns, while wiating for Marlou to come back. When we went to the ballroom, he was already there and was furious about us getting late. There was a misunderstanding about the time and since he didn't carry his mobile phone, I didn't know where to contact him. So anyway, we were just in time, because we sang right away. Our position was quite funny, they put us in the farthest corner, near the pantry! So, waiters and managers kept passing by us while we were singing. And our sound was softer than the sooooft sound that we have in the lobby.

We sang from 6:00-6:45PM, break for 15 minutes. During the break, Marl had his sandwich, he was already starving, poor Marl! Then we went back to sing at 7:00-7:45PM. After that, we went back to the lounge, put our things there. We weren't hungry so me and Brice just had cappuccino in the restaurant. It's freezing outside and in the hotel and we bought forgot our shawls so we needed something warm.

Tonight was a great night at work, not so boring. People were listening most of the time, sometimes not. LOL

When I reached home, I fixed my stuff in the room and then went online until now. Very tired. It's been a long day for us three. Brice has retired to sleep. Marl is still editing some songs. Guess I'll be having an early "early-morning" today (can't say early evening) and take a rest. It's gonna be weekend! Ciao!

My first day in Pent-Ox

I just woke up. Need to make this quick because we have a hotel function at 5:30PM. Need to prepare early and need to at least vocalize my voice. We have to leave the apartment at 4PM.

Pent-Ox apartments are very nice, I've stayed here before in 2003 just before the SARS outbreak. They moved us here temporarily at that time because the hotel was running full. We stayed in a 3-bedroom apartment. It was a lot of fun but we were getting sick because it was still winter then. When the hotel started to run low, they transferred us back there, until the occupancy picked up after the outbreak and until we finished the contract.

What I love most about staying here is... (drum roll)... the broadband internet! The unit is broadband internet-ready! Wooohoooo! Happy netting!

Comfort of home...

I like the homey feeling. Now I can say "I'm going home" after every show at night, rather than "I'm going back to the room". Marlou and I found a broadband internet connection so we're really lovin' this place. Busy chatting with friends from around 2AM until now. Hmmm, gotta go to sleep. Another long day tomorrow, we have a hotel function at 5:30PM! Ciao!

checked out there, checked in here

We were awaken by a call at 1:30PM telling us that we
should be checking out at 4PM. The hotel is running full and
they need our room, so we checked out the hotel at 4PM. Luckily, we've already packed most of the stuff last night.

We moved in to the service apartment Pent-Ox, which is
more homey. They gave us 2 2-bedroom units, they might
have been confused, but we just used only 1 unit. The
rooms are spacious which leads to the balcony. There
are 2 toilet & bath's, 1 of which is in the master's
bedroom. We're in the master's bedroom, of course. There
is a spacious living room, dining table, a big fridge
and water dispenser. There's a spare room which can be
used as an office or music room. I think Marlou needs
that space for his instruments.

I love it and iIm happy about it.

Welcome to "blogging" world, Sarita!

I'm welcoming myself into the Blogging World...

No more MY JOURNAL now, which I will be missing I've had my online journal since 2003 I guess. That was the blog part of my website, day-to-day activities jotted down there. Whenever I type into my journal, I feel free. Guess that's the main purpose of blogs, to freely express one's ideas and opinions. To share people what I'm feeling and what I have been through.

I'm still studying how to use this blogger that I've recently registered in. I want it to work for my website, and not as a separate webpage. Hope it works.

The good thing about this blogger is my visitors can leave a comment. So don't forget to leave a comment ok?!?

Gotta go now and check if it works...
